Mirai Nikki - "Future Diary"
Mirai Nikki - "Future Diary"
Intro
Hey guys. I just finished watching this anime and I couldn't find a review thread for it so I decided to make one myself even though I know pretty much 0 about reviewing and it's going to be pretty short. Let's begin.
Synopsis:
myanimelist.net Wrote:This psychological thriller, based on the manga written and illustrated by Sakae Esuno, is about Yuki, a loner who's not very good with people. He prefers to write a diary on his cell phone and talk to his imaginary friend, Deus Ex Machina – The God of Time and Space. However, Yuki soon learns that Deus is more than a figment of his imagination when he makes Yuki participate in a battle royale with eleven others. The contestants are given special diaries that can predict the future, each diary possessing unique features that give it both advantages and disadvantages. Within the next 90 days, the contestants must try to survive until there is only one left standing. The winner will become the new God of Time and Space.

Story
Rating: 10/10
This is one of the best animes I have ever watched, and the story was pretty much the whole reason. Every episode I watched left me want more and more(mostly because of the effing cliffhangers 🤫). The story will keep you guessing all throughout the anime. I had a problem trying to predict what would happen next in the series because as soon as you think you have it figured out it slaps you in the face. Plot twists are everywhere. It was a surprisingly emotional anime while still filled with loads of action. There are also a couple of funny moments in there along with moments that really give off a insanity-feel. Each one of the characters has an interesting story(I'll get to that in the character section..)
Art
Rating: 10/10
The art style was good. The animations were smooth and the characters were drawn nicely. The scenery was really amazing with this anime too. I didn't really see any bad things about the art, so it gets a perfect rating. Just a heads up, it is a pretty bloody anime, so brace yourself before jumping in. I lost count of how many people got killed on screen.
Sound
Rating: 9/10
I really liked the sound in this anime. The ambient noises and the OP/ED were both amazing and totally fitted with the theme of the anime. Just to give you an idea, here is the OP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql0NtjXIv_s
I really enjoyed the song choices that were used. The sound effects were also very good and fit the action pretty well. The voice actors were awesome and fit the characters perfectly I believe.
Characters
Rating: 9/10
The characters were absolutely amazing. The only thing I could see wrong was that they could have gone a little more in-depth with the background on each of the diary holders. It was really nice to see how every one of them has their own reason for wanting to become god and change the world. It also shows the corruption that can come over having the power to tell the future and wanting the power to be god and how it could ultimately drive you to insanity and change you. The character development was also pretty good. I think the way that they act is perfectly fitting for what each character is fighting for.
Overall
Rating: 9/10
Overall, this anime proved to be amazing and it left me wanting more. After I finished an episode, I would always want to watch another one right away. I would also like to say sorry for not making a huge review for it as I believe it does deserve a better one than I have done. If you see anything I should edit or improve on, please tell me.
Thank you for reading, peace.
