[TUT] Fix DNS Leaking

Most of you use a proxy and think that's it I'm safe but you are wrong, if you don't fix your dns leaking you are leaving small clues behind.

Now how do we fix this? Navigate to this website http://www.dnsleaktest.com/.

Now imagine I've just connected to a proxy. You can see that everything seems normal it says you are in england and in fact you are in china (for example).

Now you check for dns leaking and you get this:

You are supposed to get only one value there, so what to do?

1 - Open cmd as admin and type netsh interface show interface

2 - It's the first Local connection that matters so you are going to type this on cmd:
netsh interface IPv4 set dnsservers "Local Area Connection" static 0.0.0.0 both

(If you get a message like it's incorrect or does not exist it's a good sign it means it worked)

3- Check again for dns leaks and you will get only one value or more but none of them will be your real ip:

After turning off your proxy open cmd as admin and type this:

netsh interface IPv4 set dnsservers "Local Area Connection" dhcp

Please keep this thread alive many people don't know about this and this is very important unless you want to get caught!
Although I'm not going to use this for DNS leak testing, it's still a nice site to know when ISPs are hijacking your DNS requests.
I just tried this and found 3 Google servers connected. I downloaded dnsfix and it only removed 1 of them. I have to explore this further. Damn Google is everywhere...
Fixing dns leaking doesn't means everything ,They can track your IP packets .
Thank you for the tutorial. I knew nothing about this.

Who are "they" my friend ?
And from where "they" can track your ip packets ? From your isp logs ?

No problem, I'm here to help ;). I don't think they can track your ip packets unless they get the proxy logs (some proxies save logs), some programs fix dns leak and they don't keep logs, but there are programs that don't fix dns leaking and this is very dangerous! My advice is get anonymoX, it doesn't keep logs (I think) and it fixes dns leaks, you don't need to do this manually!
