In classifying and regarding yourself as one type of hacker, one limits themselves in the fields that they can go down. Although from time to time I engage in legitimate blackhat activity, I also aid others removing infections. As well as that, I consider myself to be an elite social engineer, and occasionally a green hat. What am I then? A rainbow hat? No, classifying yourself induces more negatives than it does positives.

I agree. A great hacker is a mix of everything. This is just a thread to show the newbies what's out there. No, classifying yourself induces more negatives than it does positives. It's about moral, ethics, not skill limitation. Your actions are always driven by your personality and motives, this also applies on hacking. There's nothing bad about limitation: Knowing your limits is the first step at defining yourself. The man is limitless, true, but that's only after he breaks his already-known limits, and goes farther. But then again, are those limits we are interested in crossing? I strive to be WH because morals, it helps me sleep at night. But then again: Life is full of people not being who they claim to be. Security managers, SysAdmins, Networking managers and generally lots of people from the IT industry are only there because of favoritism and not skill. You can see it the most on tech stores; everything is bullshit. (May 19, 2013 05:23 AM)TheGrayAviator Wrote: And what do classify yourself as Mr Skiddy? I am not a hacker, I am not a skid. But you are right 99.99% of the members in this forum are skids. But the 1% remaining are the true hackers. |
