They will love you. but when Americans say "hot asian chick" most of the time, they are NOT hot at all for us. just like I say most white girls are cute.

so it makes it easier for you i guess lol

Oh wow, so my Australian friend who visited Japan was telling the truth.
He said women were all over him because he was a foreigner.

Edit: Thought of some questions.

OP, What are High Schools like in Japan?
Is bullying common? Are there lots of different cliques?
Is bread popular to eat at lunch?
Do most people buy lunch at school, or bring it from home?

Also, thanks for answering everyone's questions!

OP, how much japanese will I need to know if I wanted to go touring in japan without a dedicated translator?
i.e. If I went like "Egou wo hanashimasuka?", how many people would respond with a "yes"?

Maybe you watched some Jap drama tv show i assume. Yes, Bullying is very common. Recently some teenagers committed suicide because of bullying. Theres also the problem that school dont wanna take responsibility and keep saying"Bullying didnt happen in school". it helps assailans students get away from getting caught even though they did extreme horrible things as a result. I have to say its more complicated than it looks.

cliques..maybe you saw like "yankee" things huh? those"bad people" style or things are completely dead at least in Tokyo. They cummonly existed 30 years ago but today its just complete unfashionable and stupid. but Ive heard they still exist in country side still.

(Jun 2, 2013 09:02 PM)Racr Wrote:  Is bread popular to eat at lunch?

Yes lol We eat bread in the morning very commonly more though. But yeah esp in high school, people buy bread a lot because its cheap, easy and convenient.

It really depends on the person but for me,which is probably the most common case, There had been actual school lunch in our classroom. Of course the food is already made so We make groups and students serve students. So A group serve in this week, so B group is next week. Untill I became I graduated middle school.

In High school, you can kinda do whatever. My school even allowed us to get out of school and buy things. If you bring lunch box that your mom makes, you would get bullied possibly. lol

It really depends on what you are going to do. You can do lots of things with saying nothing.

but you really cannot expect random people can speak English. Our English levels are as low as north korea. I think north koreans are better even. Its because our English classes are absolutely stupid. Even smart people university students who understand English on textbook cannot speak very well most of the time. So if communication is very important for your travel, you want to bring a translator.

Haha it's alright, your English isn't terrible and I understood everything. I know some Americans that write just as badly(Again, it isn't very bad) as you at least while on the computer.

I've heard that there is a Pokemon Land / Pokemon theme-park in Japan, is this true? If so, how awesome is it?
i think you misunderstood cliques in a earlier question, cliques is basically a group of people/friends

I haven't heard about it and googled it.. Im not sure if this is what you are talking about. there are more than a few pokemon center stores all over Japan.

This one is located in Tokyo and seems biggest.

http://www.pokemon.co.jp/gp/pokecen/tokyo/

It seems like everything they sell is pokemon and pokemon card battles lessons going on everyday.

I currently live in somewhere not Japan right now. Ive spent most of my time in Tokyo since I was born.

My parents have no idea about English. I don't even believe they can count numbers in English. I taught myself and tried to make foreign friends as much as I could :) Im not fluent at all but using it everyday helps learning language for sure.

By the way, If any of you have something more personal for you or me to ask, PM me because I wanna keep this thread with full of questions or I will have to move to the lounge I assume. Im enjoying this thread :)
Thanks for the so many reps!

Hmm, not quite what I was looking for. From what I heard it has rides and stuff kinda lie Disney land, but for Pokemon of course! If you havn't heard of it that probably answers my question as I imagine that it would be pretty popular... I'll keep it alive in my dreams though :0
How did you learn Kanji when you grew up?

Just like you learned your language man. Of course you learn it in school too, but it really comes to you naturally since you read, write, hear and speak everyday.
