My Guide on How to secretly keep snapchat photos on a rooted Android!

Basically, i have tried to follow loads of tutorials of getting snapchat photos to keep and without letting the sender know but eventually i just found out myself and i thought i'd make a tutorial and let you guys know how i do it!

What you will need:
  • A Rooted Android
  • Root Explorer (App)
  • Snapchat

First what i need to specify, this does not get old photos that you have already opened, just new ones!

When you receive a snapchat do not open it! Instead, open Root Explorer and navigate to ROOT/data/data/com.snapchat.android/cache/received_image_snaps

Then, when you have received a snap you wish too keep, don't open it but press refresh and you should see something like this;

Hold up! just because you have the picture file does not mean that you have finished just yet!

The file you have is a .jpg.nomedia which is unless you have a 3rd party editing app (ES File Explorer thanks to 1n9i9c7om ツ) you cannot change the name of until it is on a computer

So move the file from your phone onto the computer, remove the .nomedia extension file and leave .jpg at the end.

and proof that i have screencaptured it:

You can rename files with ES File Explorer. (:
Just give it root permissions and do the same as in the tutorial.

Nice tutorial, but I also happen to know a way of doing this but it's on your computer. You will need to go to www.snapchatweb.com
but this tutorial is very very helpful, thanks for share! 🤝

This was written a couple months ago and the application has had lots of updates/change in storage. As far as I'm aware it still alerts the sender or it's possible for your phone not snap the screen in time which gives the possibility of the picture not being taken 😉
Thanks, still didn't know this lmfao.
Nice tut
i had reader that there is app on the market called snaphack that do the same
but thank a lot
Thanks for the tutorial. Also, not sure if you mentioned this in the thread, but for ios, if your device is jailbroken, you can download "Phantom" from the BigBoss repo, and there are a lot of settings to save snapchats, add extra text, picture/text effects, and a lot more.
