[Legion] How to create a thread in the Beginner Hacking Section V2 [2013-12-26]

[img]http://i.minus.com/iv7iO7RQsAHx1.gif[/img]

Hey guys, I'm Aura., and today I'll show you how to make a good thread in the Beginner Hacking Section.
In this guide, I'll not touch the hacking side of the section, but the general aspect and conception of the threads, how they should look like to be successful in the Beginner Hacking Section.

Many people join HackForums and the first thing they do is to post right away in the Beginner Section asking for help. The problem is that, either their thread is LQ, not written in a proper english, not posted in the right section (which means, it's not even hacking related) or (and this is the worst) they posted asking for something to could look up by themself.

In this guide, I'll show you what you should do before posting a thread in this section and also, how your thread should look when you post it in this section !

Also, if you have any questions, the official Legion's Help Desk is here and we have skilled members ready to answer every questions you can have !

First things first.

Before posting in the Beginner Hacking section of HackForums, you should ask yourself these questions :

0) Have you read the rules and the Help Docs ?

Yes, this is the rule 0, as it should be the first thing you should do, not even before posting a thread in this section, but when joining HackForums. Why ? Because you'll have to validate if the question you are about to ask isn't about a subject that isn't allowed on HackForums, most commonly : Financial Fraud, Social Engineering, Cracks/Warez/Serials, etc. If you are not sure about if your question enter a disallowed category or not, you can always ask if that kind of question is allowed in the Rules, Announcements, News, and Feedback section. If your subject is allowed, doesn't go against any rules on HackForums, then you can post your question in the Beginner Hacking section.
You can read the Help Docs and the rules here :

https://hackforums.net/misc.php?action=help

1) Have you tried to Google your question and/or problem first?

I know, it sounds stupid, but ALOT of people ask questions or post problems that could be easily solved by a simple search on Google. Google is your friend, use it. People in this section are not here to Google for you, but to help you when Google fails to help you. If you fail to do so, don't be surprized when people returns you answer like "Go Google it yourself" or link you a LMGTFY (Let Me Google That For You) link. If they do, it most likely means that you could have found your answer easily on Google.

2) Have you tried the « Search » function of HackForums?

HackForums host an helpful feature called « Search » (the little binoculars under the HackForums logo on the top of the page). With this feature, you can search through all the threads with different filters. If for example you're looking for a twitter bot, just enter « Twitter bot » in the keyword text field and click the « Search » button. I guarentee you, you'll find what you're looking for. Then when you find these threads, read the answers, the reviews. This way, you won't have to create another thread asking a question that have been asked about 10 000 times already.

3) Did you search in the other sections first ?

WARNING BIG PICTURE
Spoiler (Click to View)

Most people don't seem to know that HackForums have a section for almost everything, every domain, every aspect of hacking (but not only hacking! Computing and Coding also, and even more!). If you're looking for a software/program/tool/etc., you might want to go take a look around the Hacking Tools section first! If you're looking for a tutorial on how to set up your DarkComet RAT, why don't you go take a look in the Hacking Tutorials section? See, before posting in the Beginner Hacking section asking for help because you « can't find » what you're looking for, why don't you try looking for it first?

Here's a list of sections that target specific domains in "hacking" and where your thread should be posted instead of being posted in the Beginner Hacking section :

Hacking Tutorials
Websites and Forum Hacking
SQLi
Hacking Tools and Programs
Keyloggers
Remote Administration Tools (RATs)
VPN, Proxies and Socks
Wifi WPA WEP Bluetooth 4G LTE Wireless Hacking

These sections are the section where MOST of the threads in the Beginner Hacking section should be posted instead of here. Before posting, try to see if one of these sections would fit better for your thread.

4) Is your question and/or problem EVEN hacking related?

[i]I tend to see a lot of these too now a day. Is your question, or your problem even related with hacking? Your computer restarts in a loop?
This is a problem for the Windows section! (if you have Windows of course)
You don't know how to portforward? The Networking section is here to help you!
Your command line on Backtrack doesn't work? The Backtrack Linux section experts are dying to help you out!
These questions could be asked in the right section instead of being spammed in the Beginner Hacking section. You'll have more chance to get a better, faster and accurate answer if you post your question/problem in the related section that if you post it in the Beginner Hacking one.

5) Are you asking for a service? Or offering a service in exchange for money or any other deal ?

You need someone to hack a Facebook account for you? Or do you want to propose your services to set up RATs for a little something? These services SHOULD NOT be posted in the Beginner Hacking section. They should be posted in the Marketplace, in the appropriate section. Straight from the rules :

Quote:Not in Marketplace
All marketplace-style threads or posts such as buying, selling, trading, offering a paid service, appraising, and auctioning belong to the Marketplace. Users failing to comply will earn a three-day ban. This includes threads with "optional payments" or "not free" remarks.

WARNING BIG PICTURE
Spoiler (Click to View)

If you went through all these steps, but none of them solved your problem/question (or if your question/problem doesn't apply to the 4th and 5th point), then maybe your question/problem really should be posted in the Beginner Hacking section!

But not so fast!

Before starting a thread, we should see what makes a thread asking for help, a good and efficient thread.

How to build your thread

Most of the threads we see now in the Beginner Section look like this :

« help me hack facebook please!! »
« how can i hack my school with no tools?! »
« my darkcomet doesn't work, HELP MEEE! »
« i wanna steal an instagram account! »
« how can i become l33t h4x0r and join anonymoouuus!!111?11!! »

Okay, maybe I exagerated on the last one, but it really looks like it. These kind of threads are just useless. They don't help anyone who wants to help because of the lack of information, but it also doesn't help the OP who won't get an answer because of the lack of precision in his problem/question.

Here how should a good thread look like :

0) Give your thread a descriptive name : Like the reading the rules and Help Docs before posting in this section, this step should be considered even before the first step when asking for help in the Beginner Hacking section. You have to give your thread a name that will give the members a good idea of what your problem is. Threads named "help!", "help me please!!!", "darkcomet", etc. doesn't say NOTHING about the actual problem or the content of the thread. If you want to catch the attention of someone that could potentially help you, then you have to rely on a good thread name. Good thread names would be like the following "DarkComet : Can't port-forward" or even "DarkComet : CanYouSeeMe.org can't see my port". You have to understand that A LOT of people browse this section. A lot of them are ready to help you and answer your questions, but if your thread's title can't stand out of the bunch of other threads there is in this section, the chance someone actually click on your thread, read your problem and post an answer are very low.

1) Greetings : So people who wants to help you feel the warmth of your thread and will appreciate helping someone who's polite.

2) Description of your problem / Ask your question : This is most important part. Here, you'll describe your problem in a PROPER ENGLISH, but you'll also give the most detailled description in order to help to people who wants to help you. If you can add screenshots of your problem, it would be a great add and it will help a lot. If you receive an error message, you can also copy/paste it using the quote brackets (optional) in order to give a good idea of the problem to the people who want to help you. Describe your setup : what OS are you running, what version of the software/tool are you running, do you have any Anti-Viruses or Firewall enabled, is your port-forwarded, etc. The more informations you provide here, the easier it will be to determine your problem and solve it.

3) What have you tried so far to solve your problem and/or answer your questions : This is the second most important part of your thread, and together with the precedent step, they make the core of it. There you'll list what you tried in order to solve your problem (ex: Google, Port-forwarded by following a guide, turned off your Anti-Virus to download DarkComet, etc.) Like that, people who will answer your threads will be able to identify your problem quickly by eliminating in the process all what you've tried. What you can add to, is if a solution failed somehow, mention it. Maybe the problem you currently have can hide another one and that can be the main problem.

4) A closing sentence : Like the Greetings, this part if where you thanks the HackForums users to help you, but also it's a place where you can add another misc. Information like your Skype if you wish that someone adds you to help you (ask them to send you a PM requesting your Skype username, you don't want to post it publicly on HackForums, trust me), or ask anyone who wants to help you to send you a private message.

Exemple of a good question :

Quote:Hey guys, Aura here ! 🙂

So I encountered a little problem while setting up my DarkComet RAT and I hope someone here could help me fix it, if they can !
The problem basically is that when I try to see if my port is open on CanYouSeeMe.org, the website doesn't see it. It says "Connection Timeout", like in this picture :

[IMAGINE THAT THERE IS A SCREENSHOT HERE]

I'm running Windows 7 and I port-forwarded my port on my TP-Link ABCD1234 router and set it up to port forward my port 1604. Also, my Windows Firewall is disabled and my Anti-Virus is also disabled (I use Kaspersky). Some people told me to create an exception rule in the Windows Firewall, which I did here :

[IMAGINE THAT THERE IS A SCREENSHOT HERE]

But it doesn't seem to work.

I'm really clueless on that one and I would really appreciate if someone could help me !
If you want to help me via Teamviewer or Skype, just send me a PM so I can give you my informations !

Thank you guys ! 🙂

I think that my exemple cover it all. Except that I omitted two things for that post, can you find them ? 😝

That's it folks!

Now you're ready to create a thread and ask for help with your problem and/or question! Remember to follow all the steps if you want to ensure fast and helpful answers from the fellow members of HackForums !

I'm open to any suggestions of what I should add and/or change in my guide! Also, if I did grammar mistakes, please tell me and it will be my pleasure to correct them. English isn't my natal language, so please forgive me.

This guide was written by me (Aura.) and if you want to use it, I'll ask you to send me a private message first.

A special thank you to Anonymous who gave me the permission to make my guide into a Legion's guide and to use the tags and graphics of Legion.

My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.
Might want to fix that mybb code. :p

I'm working on it right now, I don't know what went wrong :P
Do you think I have a color limitation usage ? Because the code is there but doesn't seem to work.

Pardon the text formatting all, the color codes seems to break everytime I try to edit it, working to fix it right now.

Edit 1 : The text seems to be fixed for now, I'll try to change the default writting to make it look better.
Edit 2 : Formatted it a little bit more, I'm ready to adjust it if people find it hard to read, just send me a private message or post in the thread.
Edit 3 : Changed first list number color following Soccer's feedback.

Great thread!
Everytime I see a thread with "Best Free DDoSing Tool?" a little part dies in me.
This would be really great to combine with Extrnal's tut.

Thanks alot ! I know, that's mainly why I made this guide. To try to lower the number of those threads in here.

It would be an excellent idea as you say, but me and him would have to talk about it first :)
Thanks for the suggestion !

I wish this was a sticky.

The beginners section is becoming as bad as Yahoo Answers... sadly this post will be jammed 20 pages back soon enough.

Thanks alot Silky.

I know, I don't want this section to become another of those websites where people come ask dumb questions ...

And I really hope not, this thread not to be seen by the newcomers to ensure all those useless threads we get in here :/

My thread is 2k over char limit, and it's dead anyway haha. Over 300 views and only 12 replies. 😎
Please do us a favour and change the dark blue colour.

This is actually only the basics, I'm working on making it more complete and to cover more points, that's why I called it V1 :)

Is it easy to understand for someone who just joined like you ? Or is it too vague and I should precise some points a little bit more ?
