I need the server to go to another website link that's all.

You're wording is confusing.
Do you want this site to redirect to a different site upon loading? it sounds like that's what you're wanting to accomplish.

If that's the case, you'll need to upload a shell, assuming you have ACP access that shouldn't be too hard.
From there you can just edit the index, and have it redirect to your specified site.

It depends what you're meaning by "contact an external link".

Are you wanting to send data to an external party? Could you not just set up a PHP script on the external party? How about sockets? Socket.IO is a great Node.JS based web socket library.

Are you wanting to redirect visitors to another site? You could do this in a number of fashions depending on what access you already have. You could take advantage of PHPs' header() function. You could make your own .htaccess file (assuming they're running Apache). You could just do a plain old simple JavaScript redirect.

I simply want the server to try and go to a website control by me so I can see the server IP. IE view access logs and see ip connected to it. As the target in this case is behind a CDN. Which masks there IP.

To answer your question that would be great but not really what I'm looking for. I don't have access to ACP. Nor have any exploits on the software.

I don't understand what you're trying to do, If you're wanting a server to get a webpage of another server then you could use cURL.
Else, explain more :D

And in order to see their access logs, you either need some kind of administeator access (CPanel, shell), or find a file inclusion vulnerability and locate their log files, and load em up...Not sure if this covers your question or not, you're not the easiest to understand :o

I don't have access to the server. Only a web front end.

Okay what I mean by having a server contact another server is this.

It's a MyBB forum, How can I tell the software to go grab a link somewhere.

I know of one way to do this.

Setting an avatar, MyBB asks for a Avatar link, which it then goes to that link and downloads the image for the Avatar.

I control the server that the Avatar was on and I can see the access logs and find the real server IP.

Now on the forum I was trying this on, they blocked this feature. So I need another way in.
