Is it something like they see the site as an interstitial link (similar to ad fly?)
or something like hitleap where it is technically human, but they might not actually ever really see it.

or is it real traffic that lands on the site without any kind of 'timer' before they automatically leave?

The traffic is direct and is not shown through a iframe or interstitial ad. Your websites adress is in the visitors adress bar so its completely direct.

Traffic started hitting about 2 hours ago and it's been nice and steady.
If it goes at the current rate it should take around 32 hours to fill 5000 which isn't too bad at all.
