A little boy bought a piggy bank when he was 10 years old and started to save his money.
He put 250$ in his piggy bank each of his birthdays.
And his little brother took 50$ out of the piggy bank on his own birthdays.
At the age of 50 the boy died in a car accident,
and the family broke open the piggy bank.
But they found only 500$ in there, how can this be possible?
Answer
The boy was born on 29 February. Therefore he only celebrated his birthday on a leap-year, while his brother was born on a normal day and celebrated his birthday every year. Thus the boy only deposited $250 10 times in 40 years, which amounts to $2500, whereas his brother took $50 every year for 40 years which amounts to $2000. Thus, when the piggy bank was opened, it had just $500.

I feel bad because I've done this one before.

Lol ive been trying to solve this for a long time now xD Haha. Nice one.
My guess is we're talking about the 2 different boys with 2 different piggy banks.
Boy #1 put money in his but never took it out (as we know of).
Boy #2 had money in his to begin with and was taking money out of the piggy bank with out putting it back in (as we know of).
The boy who died was the second one and what the family found in the piggy bank is what was left after the boy had been taking from.
Or the more likely case is that I'm over thinking this.

Or I am under thinking it.
