Hey i am the owner of www.thegaminghubb.com and i wanted to know if i should keep my websites UNIQUE feature, and i call it unique only because i have never seen forum actually have this kind of section. Its an 18+ section and we all know I am going to get comments like "people under 18 will view this" well no sht they can go to pornhub and view there to, this is here to draw attention to my forum from older aged gamers, also it gives me a chance to so some unique pictures that i may not have seen browsing the web. So i have 2 question: #1 should i keep the section in hopes that ill get more forum members and some posts of others gf. #2 how can i get more people on my forums. Also if you sign up and don't feel like doing the 10 required posts to get access to the 18+ zone then leave your account name here and ill add 35 posts to your account so you can bypass posting. sorry if image is to large.

You see 18+ sections on forums all the time, isn't unique at all. And neither is your forum, it's a terrible theme and SMF isn't that great.
There's nothing unique looking about another gaming forum, come up with something new and that might just attract people.

You've had the site since October 1st. Let me ask you the simple question: since putting the 18+ forum into play, have you seen a spike in registrations? Guests cannot see the forum so there's no way for them to even know it's there. Thus it might as well not be.
If anything, seeing such a forum on a gaming site would deter me from joining. It's a degradation to the purpose of the site. But I doubt this matters to you. You pointed out that you have the 18+ forum for your own benefit (to see some "unique pictures."). There's all the motivation you need to keep it, and not listen to what anyone here tells you.
Lastly, you open yourself up to a lot of liabilities by hosting adult content. If you have an underage member (and you do/will) who gains access to that area then you may be held responsible. Especially if that underage user doesn't hide it, and has their date of birth recorded in their profile.
You may also want to check on the legality around allowing underage people to register at all. I don't know for sure, but I have a gut feeling that you need to require date of birth at time of registration, and ensure all registrants are over the age of 18. With that forum in place you've effectively devolved your forum into yet another porn site with a registration component- thus holding you liable for checking ages. That's my thought process, anyways.

Im sorry im not an asshole like you, i didn't go to school and learn webdesign, i use the things that i can get my hands hon, i cant code an entire website from scratch, as for the theme who gives a fuk, i doubt you can do better, also i never see 18+ forums maybe you should link me to some legit ones. He gave you honest critique, dont be a douchebag. There are many many 18+ forums use google. Your theme is horrible and just that 1 aspect makes me not want to sign up to it.

to be honest i tell some people about the 18+ part and they sign up, so i think to some extent that it does help out. as for saying im not going to take it down is absurd i was getting opinions on if i should have it, for all the "unique" pictures i can browse google. And in the category i post saying that the staff on the website cannot monitor everything and we do not take responsibility for underage users and members who post underage pictures, all posts like that will be removes immediately and the user will be banned.

i was ok with it until he said "it's a terrible theme and SMF isn't that great." "come up with something new and that might just attract people." these 2 things got me, 1 because he is a web designer and knows how to code so he sees it as easy to create a theme. as someone like me has no experience so i see it as an extreme challenge. And as for coming up with something new to attract visitor also got me because ive tryed to do giveaways . nothing to expensive. But its that ive tried to get people to sign up, i just wanted opinions on the 18+ part whether i should keep it or not, i didn't want his opinion on what i use as a forum bases or what my theme is.

In all honesty your attitude towards hosting a forum is terrible. I can see your site not getting anywhere in the slightest in my honest opinion.
It'll probably get something like 500 members that will post a few times each and that'll be it.

Well if you saw it before last week you would think different, the forum has actually changed alot and i want it to be successful so before the new year ive been asking hf members for help, its when i ask for opinions on a specific thing and get a response not relative makes me kinda annoyed, that's like saying you wanna rat someone and the person teaches you how to keylogg instead. What I said was true, all I see is forums these days and it bores me. And the quality of your forum is terrible compared to most advertised on this forum, so that's why I was harsh. You aren't going to get your forum anywhere with that kind of attitude and certainly if you don't plan on learning webdevelopment.

1. I'm a web designer, i make all sorts from simple websites to games. From my experience your theme is horrible. Theme is 50% of why people stay on a website, the other 50% is content.
2. Forum base is 100% important when making a forum website. Use MYbb or PHPbb. They are easier to modify and have a lot more options.
3. Giveaways will only attract a few, advertising is what you need and good content base.
4. 18+ forums have absolutely no place on a gaming website. 99% of future potential members will be under 18 which leaves you to make sure that everyone who joins your forum is 18+. You do not want a child pornograhpy site blooming. Fed time.
Critique is the most important part you could even ask for. It doesn't matter if you have a 18+ forum when your theme repels people from even joining.
The fact he tried to help you shouldn't anger you, it should make you go hmm lets see what he is talking about and think about doing this.
Always, always, always listen to critique and peoples opinions on your website..
You MUST remember, it isn't your own opinion on your website its what others think. Your own opinion has 0 value.
Listen to your visitors use their words to improve.

Sorry ive just been up for so long (about 20 hours now) and im hitten that pissy mood, its just i say you status and says website developer and jumped to the conclusion that you know way more about this then i do, honestly i looked up a few tutorial on YouTube to get the basics then did some google searches for the background and the favorite icon. i literally know 0 website coding so sorry if my website appears lq for you, i would like help though if your willing to offer some serous help not just pointing out what i need to fix, help like actually showing me what i need to fix and how to fix it. i am also 17 and if your birthday on your profile is your real one then your younger, by a day, and like you im considered a dropout, also this is for website construction, your review belongs uhm .. here https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=3943379

prevouse theme was pulse, just look it up and you will instantly see the major change in forum layout, so in my mind i changed the theme and have improved the site, mabey just a little, areast how it use to be
For the sake of this site right now i have reverted the forum to its prevouse layout

Well, I did neither go to school to learn web development, but I can do a pretty decent job, and actually, not to be rude, but I don't think the theme looks nice at all, and I guess pretty much everyone cares about the theme, if you have bad theme, it says "In-professionalism", and a good theme says "Professnialism" which has a lot to say for your forum.
Also for 18+ sections, I guess there is a lot of forums with these kind of sections, maybe not the most common.
And also something you might want to keep in mind while hanging around on HF, don't take every "bad" or all "critics" that way, stay positive, and try to do something to change it, remember you got a lot to learn, and criticism is a good place to start.
