I awhile back I used that common 0.50/0.75 cent domain deal for Network Solutions and found out to renew it, it would cost $37 for one year.
I found an easy way to get that amount back down to $10.
Sign into NetworkSolutions
Go to Manage Account
Under "My Domain Names" select the expiring domain
Scroll down to "Transfer Lock"
Click on "Turn On or Request Authorization Code"
Quote:It should prompt you
Your Special Renewal Rate:
Renew your Domain Name for $10.00*
There you go, hopefully it helps someone out.
EDIT:
IF you also have a $25 reinstantment fee from being late
Quote:To avoid this also you can call billing complain, then get them to transfer you to customer care where they'll discount the fee.
This is great. My Domain just expired and I was debating if I should renew it.

Great, glad it helped someone.
Also I found out if you're a day late on renewing your domain you'll get a 25 dollar reinstatement fee.

Ya I see that.
"Reinstatement Fee $25"
Not worth my trouble. Will just get a different domain.

Takes 3 days

Yes, that is what i do
My registrar is godaddy or namecheap though :)
Considering the customer support is wonderful (at least in my experiences), $37 isn't bad to pay imo.

^ I said that in a previous post.
It works, it just takes awhile to get the right person.
Why would you register with Network Solutions?
IMO Hover is the best and you can transfer there for $10. Live phone support with no machines, quick and simple UI.
Just bringing this back up, don't want anybody to pay those fees network solutions give you.
Even though I transferred to namecheap.com which is insanely cheap.
$37 for a renewal fee. Damn they must really be getting money hungry. I would suggest name.com or namecheap as an alternative.
