login to your webserver CP, there should be a picture called password protect click that..

im running it on a vps i need to password protect a folder but it only allows for you to login once

You can add a password protected directory by logging in to your Webhosting control panel.

This is a option i found a long time ago on the internet.

Its a tool named Cryptkeeper, this tool allows you to create a new directory with a password.
Each time you wanna open the folder you need to enter your password.
