I currently have a Toshiba Satellite A665-S5184, and a 32" Samsung TV. I was looking up ways to connect my laptop to the TV w/ sound. I found several different people using a variety of different cords to get this done and I was completely unsure of which one to go with or which would be compatible with my laptop and TV. I'm not that great with computers, so I thought I'd ask before I go out and buy some cords that may or may not work. The reason I'm trying to get this to work is because I have a laptop with movies and whatnot downloaded on it, and it'd be nice to watch a movie on a bigger screen when nothing is on TV.
If you're able to help me, I'd appreciate it. I just need to know what cords I need to buy and a link to buying the cord would be nice, but not needed. Thank you.
Tell me your laptop model so i would be able to help you :)
You can use a sound cable which will be connect to laptop's headphone port & Right & left port on TV which are usually for connecting it to DVD player etc :)

All you need is an HDMI cable, simple as that. This is if your laptop have an HDMI port. HDMI transfert video and audio.

State the ports your laptop has or the model number for an exact answer.
If you do not have an HDMI port then i am positive you have a vga output. Connect the vga to your tv for display and use computer speakers for sound if your tv does not have the input for audio.

Thanks, I'll go ahead and buy one. Is there a specific kind of HDMI cable, or all they all the same? There seems to be a few of them that range in price (all the same size).

Your laptop have an HDMI port so you'll be good. No, HDMI Cable are pretty standard, just be sure to buy a HDMI cable and not a mini-HDMI cable.
