I perceive myself as awesome, I'm social, I have long conversations with total strangers, and I'm anything but normal. There are those brands of weird that are just weird, but hey, I talk, I'm a human, and I behave like a human being.

Huh, apparently this is the most common perception of the furry fandom. I blame CSI for that. It's not about that for me. In fact, I'm scarcely into the sexual aspect of it at all. The art community is amazing, I get to meet like minded people, and even those that do dress up in fursuits don't usually have sex with them. There's a whole different subculture devoted to that known as murrsuiting, but I won't go into that.

It's just a social community for me. Like going to Comic Con, or any convention really. Though sometimes in smaller contexts, like monthly meets.

I assure you, for me, it was not. Hell, I thought I was straight for a long ass time, but then I realized, it didn't matter the gender, if I liked someone, I could be attracted to them romantically.

Also, a relationship is not purely sexual, as you seem to insinuate. Hell, you can even be asexual and have a relationship.

Same reason some people have hobbies, or hang out with a particular group of people. They enjoy it, they find solace in it, they mesh well with the people, or they're just interested :) To oversimplify it, some people like chess enough to join a chess club, for the social aspect. It's not entirely correct, but each person has their own reasons for their furriness.

Like I said, it's not purely sexual. I identify as pansexual, so I'm attracted to people for who they are as a person, not necessarily on a sexual attraction basis.
