Java

What is a GREAT and easy java book so I can learn java?

I wanna learn java. What are some GREAT books you guys have read before to learn java or whatever? Don't care about the price.
If you want to learn Java, there is no easy way! You have to study ,and practice if you want to get good :) but i would suggest going to your local library and seeing if there are any good books you could pick up. Start with the basics!
Head First Java is a quite good and sometimes entertaining book about Java.
They have good brain-training games inbetween the book and some humor as well.

Head first java has gained a lot of good feedback from other members learning java, but any book you read will teach you enough java to get you started. then it just depends on where you want to go from there - anything more specific will require your own research into the topic of your choice. Google.
yes me to bro ;)

Don't re ask the same question... read the thread. Head first java is a good one though, but it sounds like you don't even know english.
Do I need to have knowledge for any other programming to learn Java?
Google "how to x in java"

If you play Minecraft, start with Bukkit plugins. After you gather syntax and how to do various procedures, try to do some Project Euler problems.
Once you think you're ready, try to create an application (remember, "how to x in java")

Repetition and research is the only way to learn.

If you choose to start with Minecraft (if not, start with Euler) then keep these as reference
http://jd.bukkit.org/beta/apidocs/ (Bukkit API documents, I'd suggest event handling to begin with)
http://wiki.bukkit.org/Plugin_Tutorial
Also, "how to x bukkit" could work.

Project Euler https://projecteuler.net/problems

Eclipse IDE (Indigo, my preferred)
https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packag...indigo/sr2
(Get "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers")

I don't remember having installed JDK, but in case it's needed
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/j...80260.html

Saros is good if you have a teacher

I also recommend reading these pages at some point in time, preferably first
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/j...ators.html
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/j.../flow.html
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/j...value.html
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/j...thods.html

I can try to help as much as I can on Skype

Just like you learn anything else, learn yourself.

Please, don't advocate Plugin Development or Project Euler as gateways into programming. They're merely there to further your knowledge, test your skillset, etc. The best way to get into programming is do it out of interest. After that, start with the fundamentals. Why? You'll actually retain the information that way. If you jump into something, sure you'll learn something, but you're not guaranteed to remember it down the road because you don't have a solid foundation. It's similar to a scrawny kid taking steroids, getting huge, then stopping, and losing every ounce of muscle mass he had. Why? No solid foundation.

I suggested them as starting points. You can't learn anything without an idea. They are simply ideas for the learner to gain experience with. That's why I emphasized "how to x in java" Google searches over and over.

Thanks for the hate, though, much appreciated

My school uses starting out with >>> java - from control structures through objects 5th edition by Tony Gaddis
Not saying it is the best book, but it may be worth checking out?
You need to read a lot of books to learn Java because every book always miss something or explains a subject in away that is difficult to understand. The best book in my experience has been http://www.amazon.com/Java-Program-early...to+program

PM me if you want a copy
