Policy Question

Religious signatures

Many have signatures with quotes from Albert Einstein etc, are you able to have a quote from some religious person that relates to religion but isn't starting some religious flame war? Just need to clarify how this rule works.

Example is the quote in OP here: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4118385
I'm also curious as to how this rule works.

My guess is that it can't promote your beliefs or make other beliefs seem inferior.

EDIT:

Quote:15. No political or religious expression in your profile. This includes user titles, signatures, and avatars.

I just found the definition of expression.

Quote:the action of making known one's thoughts or feelings.
Spyro: So the wording would make quotes about Jesus saying x and y fine, while something like "I'm a Catholic, AMA" wouldn't be.
@Robust -

I assume so, although I am not 100% sure.

If Jesus said something like "Ain't no party like a Bethlehem party." then I think that would be allowed.

However, something like "Jesus is my saviour. All hail that holy cross." wouldn't be allowed.

I think.
I've reported several users for having Satanic avatars and signatures before. I think the staff I messaged was Paradoxum who just removed their avatar and signature then the users would just add it again and nothing happened. I don't see religious things in profiles a lot though.
Or we can all grow up, accept each other's beliefs, and go on with our lives without starting a war because someone's online signature has a religious reference in it.
Now that I think about it, Black Shadow was very...religious.

I'd have to go with this.
As long as it doesn't really relate to religion, it should be fine (even though it may be a religious person saying the quote).

*This isn't a 100% right answer. Another Staff, Mentor or Administrator can have their say before I close it.
Still looking for a full clarification on this if possible.

Pretty good explanation - Omni should add it to the help documents. 🤭
So people are not allowed to share their own beliefs? Hahahaha.

The site policies apply to everyone. You see upgraded members getting banned as well. And as for that forum, you realise lots of LQ posts were gone thanks to that rule. There is a sticky thread to discuss it. And finally, my thread is a question about a site policy, not somewhere to whine about that rule, so kindly stay on topic or don't post.
I would assume that quotes are not your expressions thus being allowed. Then again I don't think too many people would be happy if you started quoting Adolf Hitler in your signature.
I think if its a quote it's fine, but not if you have something like
"My name is Jesus and I hate Muslims"
