From my experience, some of the smartest people in my school did a ton of drugs and they still managed to get higher than a 4.0 average. Keep in mind, my high school was not a shitty one. It was ranked number 2 or 3 in the whole state.
I think a lot of the times is the smart students are the ones with open minds. So they try new things. Once they try new things, they start enjoying those new things and realize it helps them.
STUDY: Delinquents and abused teenagers are most likely to do drugs. Don't believe me, believe basic human psychology and insecurity. If we want to talk about average drug users, let's talk all sides of them and not only two studies. Besides, he might be right about intelligence requiring stimulation, however the majority of drug users do it because their entourage do so. Moreover, being depressed and bored does NOT mean that you begin doing drugs. In that case every depressed person with means to get drugs would be doing drugs, that still has to be proven.
This video truly makes me laugh. He's talking as if drug users = smart people. Now, that may be true with some people, but teenagers doing drugs are not the geniuses of tomorrow - the clear majority as they're easily influenced -. Are smart people now submissive?
He seems to believe himself to be a higher force beyond the comprehension of us little, oh so little non-drug users. He should drop the ego and the pretentious tone, he's not a beautiful snowflake.

Watch the video. He explains everything. Not all smart people do drugs, and not all delinquents don't do drugs. It was a study over the course of 17 years.

I watched the video. If I hadn't, I couldn't have talked about the depression and stimulation argument.
The age of this study doesn't increase its credibility. Delinquents tend to do drugs more than smart people tend to do drugs. Also teenagers who are influenced by relatives who do drugs in the first place.

If you would have watched the whole video, he talked about how he DIDN'T mean that all drug users are smarter, and we should not treat them better. Rather that we should STOP the stereotype that they are NOT smart and looking down on them just because they do drugs. He also didn't state opinions very little, so I don't know what you are on about in the last paragraph, most of what he was saying was based off the study.

I didn't say he meant that, I just threw this argument in the air to reinforce my point; the percentage of delinquents and teenagers doing drugs exceeds by far the percentage of smart people doing drugs.
Must be just me in that case, either that or he's taking a REALLY pretentious tone by chuckling along the video.

No. I think the study is valid, but its duration doesn't matter. I also think other studies are valid.
Somehow this seems to be true.
I even had a asian friend whom got A's and B's in all classes and he still smoked and took acid like every other weekend.
On Another note I have a real Close friend of mine who is extremly smart if he wants to. He uses weed frequently, doesn't go to school at all and doesn't pass any classes. But when he passed school Before he still didn't give a fuck. I remember once that we were Reading a new chapter in our math book and this guy just shows up to the last lesson Before the test all high and just studies for like an hour then goes back to his regular stuff. He got a C in the class.

It also supports that some drugs don't actually make you dumber... So that's good.

If they could mix weed with something that re-activates your award system in your brain.... People would get so much smarted and imaginative.

I come from a school with standards and being one of the smartest kids there I can tell you none of the smart kids here did drugs
Also the studies do talk about adjustment
I don't have the time to read through the entire paper but adjustments would mean likely biased adjustments
