Another method you could try is actually using a sharpie on paper, take a fairly well lit picture, set blend mode to multiply to remove white background then use warp/liquify as needed.
Just another method for ya! Fantastic video...One realism tip I could offer is pay close attention to the shadows of your image, that way you can use a curves adjustment to match the 'writing' to the rest of the shadow areas :) Keep up the good work!
