Dox'ing isn't illegal until you start getting really sensitive info such as SSN's or get a dox through illegal means. That said, considering
this is HF ... and the it's members. There is a 99% chance they're going to do something illegal with the dox.

They may attempt, but I know the member on here that SWATed on me got arrested. There are very very few people that can do serious damage without getting caught, and the few that can are not stupid enough to talk about it publicly. Also, getting SSN's also is not illegal unless it is obtained illegally.

I predicted this would happen the moment I saw this site, never used it.
Who uses a wallet made by random HF members? :Roflmao:

Getting sensitive information is not illegal. I plan on working for an attorneys office, where my Mom works, and you can pull up an SSN on someone without issues. Using the private information like that for negative things like fraud, is illegal though.

Everyone who uses Omnicoin, actually. Though the 'official' wallet is opensource, it's still technically made by us.

You're correct. However, I should clarify, we should also remain in the boundaries of HF rules. Also...

You're correct, but unless you're employed in law enforcement or something similar, it's nearly impossible to get information like that without social engineering or something similar.

Caveat Emptor. A phrase to live by. (Use your brain/buyer beware/etc.)
And there are many high quality members who want nothing but to make something amazing. Etc. Still, the first phrase holds true.

Still here sometimes.
This was inevitible. Members should always show caution using online wallets. Unfortunately this is why I'd rather get reputatable sites like Cryptsy to hold wallets instead of HF member owned ones. It's extremely sad but first off it's hard to trust anyone here and secondly we have too many unseasoned admins without a clue on how to secure setups.
190k hurts but it could have been worse imho. Hopefully no single member lost more than a few k of OMC and even more hopeful that in dollars it wasn't too much.
Needless to say both members involved now have closed accounts. It's a shame that an MD didn't respect the community enough to report this. He will now have to face the consequences of that decision.
And I don't think this ruins OMC. If they're smart they won't dump them anyways until it has a higher value. It's not like they paid a lot to get them. So they can afford to just sit on them until they gain value.
Quote:I still don't know why people chose vulnerable online wallets instead of the QT.
Online wallets might be good for short term and limited use but overall a QT client is likely the safest. At least until we're listed on more reputatable exchanges like Mintpal or Cryptsy.

Who wants to knock on his door to get their OMC back? Maybe it's time for a talk with mommy and daddy about his behavior.
They stole OMC which is crypto currency. I'm surprised Tenaxium got involved in this but he obviously did. The least he could do is buy as much OMC cheaply as he can to compensate at least 1/2 the loses which imho he is responsible for. This just wasn't the right thing to do by any means. I'm not surprised at the young teenage scammer that goes around various forums scamming what few dollars he can but I had thought Tenaxium was better than that.
Personally this stuff doesn't surprise me but it does depress me and sickens me some. It's times like this I'm not particularly proud to own this community.

Honestly it would've happened in any community, greed and jealousy is just human nature. But, we've only learned from this mistake, we will evolve and protect against things like this.
Only use HF to deal.

I personally lost >6k coins. I chose to forgive Tenax on the following parameters:
-I spoke with both of these users many times on skype, Luke on all 3 of his skypes.
-HE is a good scammer. He scammed me for 40$ pp a long time ago, but recently purchased an award (litecoinage, we had an issue if you remember that) and I won the 40$ chargeback, so I forgave.
-Luke is a very good SE. That is the only way to put it. He knows very very well how to sound legit. He confidently told me a while ago that he had an uber on here from a different houshold, and he would not be banned. Just food for thought.
-Luke sucks people in to scams. He tried to get me in. He also bragged about what I missed out on.
-He sucked Tenax in. I do not blame Tenaxium, the opportunity to potentially (this was not reached obviously) for very little work is very very hard to pass up. I warned him about Luke, but it is a lot of money.
-He told me he had every intent of telling the vulnerability to the right people, but Luke threatened him.
To summarize: Tenaxium made a terrible mistake, but is a good person. In my opinion he should not be closed, a 1 month ban and a repfuck is plenty. Maybe even make it 3 months. But he deserves to stay. As for Luke, we should watch for him in the next while. He deserves what he got.
Tenaxium should be also this responsible at all. I don't see his dox anywhere.
They had it coming honestly, I don't know how people think they can rob from tons of members and expect not to get caught.

Somebody defaced his website with his dox. They've got different addresses... I wonder which is real.
http://pastebin.com/gNBjcCFq
I called that number but he ignored it.
:( sad day 4 understlkr
Just finished reading the chat log between these 2 retards, they really thought they discovered an exploit that would work on every crypto currency.
Anyone manage to track the stolen OMC? Addresses or which exchange they've been deposited on?
I wouldn't be surprised to OMC's value turn to shit just to make sure these 2 kids don't make any money from their heist.
