What are the consequences for LQP? I got banned for a week for bad posting etiquette, when I thought it was just a 20% (or something similar - don't quote me on this) increase in your warning level.

Low Quality Posting and Posting Etiquette? |

I'm not complaining about the ban, it actually did me good as it gave me some free time to revise for exams, I'm just genuinely confused. I know that I bypassed the 35 character limit twice by adding a couple of smilies, but I didn't think it would get me banned.
OP, lounge rules;
1. No trolling. 2. No short posts like "cool story bro", "lol" or "lmao". 3. Subjects of threads must be sensible to the thread. 4. Flaming is unacceptable. 5. This isn't 4chan so don't treat it as such. 6. No adult images. 7. No forum games like "person above you", "opinion of you" or one word response threads. 8. No misleading thread titles or titles inferring adult content. 9. Anyone breaking these rules will be temp banned without warning. Check 9. ![]()
It all depends on what the situation is and how severe it is. If a user is constantly making LQP and posts that break HF rules then you can expect to be banned. If it is a minor offense then you can expect to get a warning. The 35 character rule is a rule that is something that is taken seriously on the site, if you break that rule then you will be definitely be banned. If you have to consider whether or not your post could be reported for a LQP or other Posting Etiquette offense then it is a good idea not to be posted. If you see other members taking part in activity that breaks a rule then you should report it. If it is a user's first or second time breaking a rule than it is quite possible that they will get a warning. Information about warnings and how they are given will be linked below.

It's not just up to the Staff... it has to do with your history as well.
Sometimes a warning just doesn't get the point across. If the etiquette of your posts has been horrible for a long time (a continuing occurrence), they may just ban you. It does have a lot to do with WHICH staff member or administrator is dealing with the reports as well. Some of them want you to understand that things aren't taken so light. Improve the quality of your posts and it shouldn't happen again. |
