Hello Again HF!
Welcome to another Tutorial by MeshCollider.
In this tutorial I will show you how to generate your own custom addresses for any cryptocurrency including Bitcoin and Omnicoin!
What you need:
Generating your custom address:
1) Simply download Vanitygen, extract the RAR file and you are ready to proceed. You should see files like this:

The OCL files can be used if your video card supports OpenCL, but I will use the normal vanitygen files in this tutorial.
2) Open a Command prompt window in the folder. You can either open cmd and navigate to the folder using the command similar to this:
Code cd Desktop\vanitygen-0.22-win
OR you can hold down the SHIFT key while right clicking in the folder, and it will give you the option "Open command window here".

3) Next, type the appropriate command for your system:
32 bit computers need this command:
64 bit systems need this command:
TEXT is the text you want to have at the start of the address. It must be formatted correctly:
For bitcoin addresses, the first character of TEXT must be a 1
e.g. vanitygen 1Mesh
Which will generate an address like 1MeshUhqkshRnMGUMfPnGGQyPgv4gjoTJV (not my real address)
All bitcoin addresses start with a 1 - that is just how they are formatted. Omnicoin addresses all start with o. Other cryptocurrencies have different starting letters:
If you want to generate an OMC address or other cryptocurrencies, you must speficy what the starting character is. For OMC you need to use the code 115 which represents the letter o. Use the -x parameter in the command to specify this:
Code vanitygen -X 115 oMesh
For other cryptocurrencies, you can do some research or look it up in the source code of the currency:
In src/base58.h find the line which looks like this:
Code PUBKEY_ADDRESS = 115,
That number is the number you need.
Other common currencies:
Litecoin - 48
NOTE: Vanitygen will not allow you to include the letters 0, O, I, or l (zero, uppercase o, uppercase i, and lowercase L) in your address because they are easily confused with other characters.
4) When you have entered the command, press enter, and vanitygen will begin finding the address for you.

IMPORTANT: The longer the text you entered, the longer the process will take. anything 3 or less characters long will take a few seconds, 4 is reasonable within a couple of minutes, and 5 can take hours. This also depends on the speed of your computer.
5) When the process is complete, you will see something like this:

(That is not my real address/private key)
That is your new address and private key. To copy this from CMD, right click in CMD and choose "Mark". Then, highlight the private key and address. Right click on the title bar and choose Edit > "Copy". Then paste the address somewhere like notepad.

To import your new key into the original bitcoin/omnicoin wallet (QT), Follow these steps:
Go into the omnicoin-qt / bitcoin-qt
Wait for it to sync
Go to Help --> Debug
If your wallet is encrypted, use this command to unlock it for 600 seconds:
Code walletpassphrase "YourPassphrase" 600
In the console tab, bottom text box, type "importprivkey PRIVATE_KEY ADDRESSNAME false"
Example:
Code importprivkey 9B9jLCweMMZodcW4uHKWbNhTjW5AuNuTVjeaA4b7GkuABxq7a73 MyNewAddress false
Restart omnicoin-qt / bitcoin-qt
TIPS:
You can also generate custom length addresses like this (replace 31 with length-1):
Code vanitygen -r "^1[a-zA-Z0-9]{31}$" -k
Use the -o flag to output your generated keys to a text file, to save time (although make sure you delete it afterwards).
The -i flag will make the generation case insensitive, which will speed up the process.
If you hit any issues, PM me :D
I will also generate custom addresses for you if you want, PM me if you trust me enough 🙂. I take your security seriously and would never keep/steal your private key.
IF YOU WOULD PREFER TO USE A GUI TO GENERATE THE ADDRESSES, see Proddy's Thread here: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4303153
Please reply and say thanks - it only takes a few seconds, and it will help keep the thread alive to help others!

Thank you very much for replying!
Somebody just asked me today how to do it, so I went ahead and wrote this tutorial. I tried to think of everything, including how to copy and paste from CMD 🙂
Nice one OP, there was a previous tutorial on this but seems to have fallen into the depths of the forum.
This one seems better anyway! GJ

Thanks man!
I wish more people would reply and say thanks - to keep the thread alive. Noone will be able to find the thread if it falls further, so I wish people would keep it alive 🤝
Thank you so much for this any preferences where to open wallet?

You should have your own wallet, it is safer than having an online wallet. I just use bitcoin-qt and secure it with a passphrase, and then back it up regularly.
Thanks for posting this, too many people are getting scammed by having others make these for them!

This may have happened to me too. Someone generated me an address and it cost me around 15 OMC before I switched. Not much, but it could happen to anyone, so this is the safe way to show off 🙂
By the way, thanks to whoever rated the thread 5 stars! Appreciate it!
Come on guys - 128 views and only 4 people have replied to say thanks....

honestly, bitcoin-qt isnt the best option because you have to have the giant blockchain on your computer.
And you dont have to keep backing it up unless you make new addresses and receive coins on them

I know, but that is one of the safest ways to do things 🙂
Usually I just use the bitcoin wallet on my android phone.

You have to write the address like 1meh for bitcoin, and omeh for omnicoin.
All bitcoin addresses start with a 1 - that is just how they are formatted. Omnicoin addresses all start with o. Other cryptocurrencies have different starting letters.
