The Fault In Our Stars

I hate saying this, but I watched this movie.
I was expecting to see some cliche cheesy cringe-worthy pretentious teenage attitude shit from this movie...
And, I did read the book because I kept hearing about how good it was and because I used to read John Green's books before TFIOS, in the middle school like 6-7 years ago.
I took the risk and I honestly did not like the book...

Anyways, I did watch the movie because
1) I wanted to see if my preconceived notions were right... I wanted to see if this movie was going to be horrible and extremely cringy because of the whole "okay? okay" shit that just makes me want to throw up.
2) and because I wanted to see if the book-adaptation was going to be all fucked up. Usually book-movies are ruined, but here is the point:

The movie was EXTREMELY well made.

The actors and actresses, in my opinion, seemed disproportional and way too "beautiful" but regardless, it's a damn movie.

The movie also followed the book PERFECT. It was almost too perfect. Each scene leaked down to its next scene as portrayed in the book. Seriously, I have never seen an adaptation as well made as TFIOS. Usually book-movies are horrible and miss half the events.

Willem Dafoe was the "antagonist" of this movie, twisting it up. I was expecting his role to fuck everything up because I thought I'd only think about the Green Goblin and Osborne. But nope, fuck you Spiderman, you don't win this time.

In the end, the audience were extremely fucking irritating. The teenage girls and the wave of morons who were in the theater, crying... clapping in the "rebellious" scene, etc. all made me want to puke.

Regardless, I really hope Looking For Alaska would be adapted into a film, by the same production. They made the book actually come to life, and I want to see my middle-school favorite Looking For Alaska be made the same.

8.2/10 because it
  • Followed the book perfectly

  • and the acting was quite honestly superb for a pretentious teenage-love movie

I watched this as well with my girl on Saturday and it wasn't that bad & had some decent parts imo.

A bunch of crying teenage girls all around me on the other hand was pretty annoying.

Yup, that was my biggest fear and that's what made me drop some points on the rating. The atmosphere the movie emits really is irritating.

Also, the movie wasn't sad at all, or... maybe I have no emotions (I do), though seriously, I didn't find any scenes too "omg I'm gonna cry" or "awww"

Neither did I, not even the slightest bit.

Oh well, the movie overall was planned out well.
