Enjoyed the tutorial but I have yet to put it to the test
Tutorial works, although I think because so many people are using this method the app is almost dead, i got about a total of 200 likes in a few hours.
In the Preferences folder all that's showing up is ".GlobalPreferences.plist" & "com.apple.PeoplePicker.plist".. I turned on hidden files, what am I doing wrong? Has it been patched?

I do not really know about that issue you are having.
My advice is to try reinstalling the app.
