Why mine OMC when you can print it?
I bought a 3D printer a few months ago. I thought it would be cool to create some omnicoins in real life.
Today, I spend about 15 minutes modeling these coins in Autodesk Inventor (a CAD modeling program) and I sliced them up then printed them on my Makerbot Replicator 2 3D Printer. I printed these at pretty low resolution (200 micron layers to be exact), but my printer can go higher resolution. It took around 35 minutes to print and it weighs around 8 grams.
I printed these in grey just because I have a lot of that color and I was just testing to see how it turned out. I plan to print a few more of these in differnt colors later also. Sadly I don't have yellow or purple so I can't use those colors, but I'm working on getting them soon.
Below I'll throw in a few pictures. If I get some positive responses I'll probably print out some more cool stuff and showcase it later.

A picture to show size.
The postit note is 3 by 3 inches. The lines have 1 inch spacing.

Another somewhat cool closeup.
This one is to show the details and also I wrote my name in the background of the picture.

A picture of what the design looks like when I created it on my computer.
Just kinda for fun, and to show it off my work.

Hope you enjoyed these few pictures! If anyone wants the CAD model to print (or do whatever they want with) PM me and I'll send it your way. If you have any suggestions/improvements to my model then please reply with them! I like it as is but I'd like to get them perfected before I print any more at higher res.
No madder how many times you ask me I'm not printing a gun.
Please, for my sanity, don't ask me about printing a gun

Interesting.
Seriously though nice job, those look pretty good.
I need to say that this is really cool! do you do requests?
That's pretty cool if you get get this actually integrated with OMC then sell them. Like some if the actual first Bitcoins!
Nice job on them man!

Requests to print stuff? Surely you can suggest anything you want but I may not print it. I'll print your request if I'd be able to use it/enjoy it also. It'd be fun to see what (appropreat) things HF suggests.

One letter makes a big difference. Thanks for the postitive feedback and I updated the thread to fix that error.

Thanks for the feedback. It'd be cool to sell them for actuall OMC but I don't know how I would handle the shipping. Maybe I'd be able to fit them in an envelope but still, that would probably cost a dollar or 2 just to ship. The cost would be a bit high for a little 2 inch piece of plastic.
Those look pretty good, I like them a lot. You could probably sell some in the marketplace in all honesty.

Rim orange, inside yellow, character purple, y'know.
Damn nice job dude, nice CAD work right there btw how much did the printer cost you?

That's a complete pain in the rear end to do on a cheap 3D printer. You can of course do it, but switching colors doesn't always go well without a nice rapid prototyping 3d printer.

After it is painted you should send it to Omniscient, I'm sure that would win you some favors for something as cool as that. <3

I'm sure I could. But the price would have to be a bit high to incorpirate shipping.
Also I would have to get a wallet and stuff setup again because I would have to accept omnicoin to sell omnicoin coins
Thanks for the feedback!

Right now the only colors I have are red, orange, green blue, grey and white. I'm gonna get yellow and purple next round of printing but my printer is only a single extruder so it would be a pain to change the filiment. Plus the orange that I have is neon and so is the yellow that I'm gonna get. The orange would look to out of place anyway, ignoring the fact that it would be almost impossible.

If you do sell them make them include a wallet code on the back that has 1 Omnicoin in the wallet.

The printer is the makerbot replicator 2. http://store.makerbot.com/replicator2
Its discontinued but it was 2,200. Its a high quality printer, just not industrial grade, obviosly.

Hahahah I would totally have to do this. Only thing is it would be a pain to include on the print (having to customize every single one). Maybe just include a little card or somthing. Thanks for idea/feedback!

Who said it had to be two inches
why not four?
That’s awesome!
I’d love to get into CAD design and printing along with milling and what not. Is it difficult to learn the CAD process?
+3 for making these!
I will never neg rep you for expressing your opinion(s).
Almost everyone I neg rep gets perma banned
