Anime Adventures Weekly - Writer Recruitment

The reason I didn't put this in Group Recruitment because this is an anime newslette

- and so I want dedicated anime viewers. That means people who frequent this section. Thanks.

Anime Adventures Weekly

Anime Adventures Weekly (AA Weekly) is a volunteer run, weekly news post which summarizes the anime news for the previous week. Not only that, but it also includes news about Japan in general, it features anime, manga and visual novels reviews/highlights and even a song section for those musicians. The driving force behind all of this is just a small group of individuals. What I want for the future is a bigger team which means more content for the folks at AA and that is what this thread is about.

Recruitment

We're looking for members to join the team and help make AA Weekly bigger and better. If possible I would love for this to be on a similar level to HF News, and to do that I need help! Firstly I want to say, I'm not a tough boss. I don't mind if you need help spell checking or writing, but you still need a decent understanding of English. Other than that, the only rule I have is to make sure you hand in on deadline day. To make this flow smoothly I need everyone to be punctual, if you can't do this then please rethink before applying. Otherwise, here's a little checklist of skills we're looking for:
  • Good understanding of English

  • Punctual with deadlines

  • Can work effectively in a team

  • Quirky writing style*

*That means don't write boring one line sentences, have fun with it!

Positions

Here at AA Weekly, I like to give you the free reign to choose whatever position you want to work in, so if you like interviewing people, be an interviewer! Or if you like anime news, write the news! I won't force you into an position, but be aware positions are available to those who come first. Here are the current positions:

Thank you for reading and thank you to any applicants, good luck!
Name: Your senpai
English Level (?/10): Level 6, i can do it just very slow
Favourite anime and why?: boku no pico, The writing is amazing, with in depth character development that trumps all others in it's genre. Boku no Pico is able to
make you for in love with the characters in 3 episodes and really make you care what is happening. The music and animation is just amazing with nothing else doing
it and quite the same way. Despite the controversy around this anime no one can deny that is a masterpiece in it's own right.
Section you wish to write for: Headlines (anime/Japan news).
Name: CCBM or Alex
English Level (?/10): 10
Favourite anime and why?: My personal favorite Anime has to be AnoHana. It is one of the most emotional Anime's I've seen to recent memory. Some may say Clannad: A/S is the saddest, but I for one have to disagree. That's my favorite for a sad Anime, but my favorite Anime ever is Non Non Biyori because everything about it is perfection.
Section you wish to write for: I wish to write for one of the Proofreader positions because I am quite good at finding errors in a persons writing, or finding problems with what they've written about.
Nice thread.
Oh and please pick me senpai, I wanna write for the teamzzzz

Oh, and yeah, I would like to add.
PUNCTUAL WITH DEADLINES.
Its not that hard people, you have a whole week to write articles. You can do it. : )
Name: Truthly Godz/Kenny
English Level (?/10): 8 since I know English and Spanish
Favorite anime and why?: My favorite anime has to be Zero no Tsukaima since it was the very first anime that I ever like and it made me like anime a lot. Also, I like the series because of the opai and the concept of it but I find it kinda sad that there not going to be another season since the creator died :c
Section you wish to write for: I'd like the spot for proofreader since I've quite a lot of time in that area in school. Since all we do is proofread other people work 3 times a week so I can find errors pretty quickly.
Name: Bleeding
English Level: Not really sure what you mean about this but I am in college and I have taken college English classes. Maybe an 8 or 9
Favorite anime and why?: Kyoukai no Kanata is my favorite and why you ask? Spoiler (Click to View)
Section you wish to write for: Interviewer 2. I have not only given several interviews in my life but I have also been on the receiving end of interviews countless times.
Name: Cloud Strife/Michael

English Level (?/10): 9.5
I won't say a 10 because that would imply everything I write is flawless and adheres to every esoteric grammar rule out there.

Favourite anime and why?: That's a tough question. If I had to pick just one, it would be Code Geass. I felt there was enough of each element that made it a great series. There was the badass action scenes with the giant mechas destroying each other. There was the psychological/thriller scenes which had you guessing what was going to happen next. There was even some feels with the childhood friendship and the unrequited love. All these elements (and more) combined to make such a compelling story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Section you wish to write for: I would like to apply for the Proofreader and Interviewer positions. I write technical reports for my classes and projects so my grammar has to be on point. I always enjoyed reading the interviews and I think it would be cool to have a one-on-one interaction with some members of the best subforum.Spoiler (Click to View)

Also, I have a question about the Cosplay Corner and Gaming/Music News. What exactly would those positions entail?

Favourite anime and why?: I don't know what to really choose but my top pick would be Air Gear. I just love the way the MC pushes himself beyond his limits so he can reach the sky. The anime was really fascinating. I could re-watch this anytime. Also I love the character designs also the story plot was really great. When I first saw it I was like "Oh it'll probably be crap" once I watched the first episode it was like I fell in love with it. Once I saw all the episodes I decided to read the manga.

Section you wish to write for: I would love to write for the Gaming News section. But I would like more information on which games I'd specifically write about. So if you can give me more information on which types of games then i'll be happy to change this answer.
Name: Xeph

English Level (?/10): Wound English 12 be an answer? Kiddin'. A solid 8. I have things to improve on, and I'm in no way perfect, but maybe some day I can get there.

Favourite anime and why?: Hhmn, I'd have to says Gantz. Can you say character development? I can. The entire anime is just about that. Each character brought into the Gantz room undergoes some sort of change, if they didn't get killed on their first mission that is.

Section you wish to write for: I'm applying for the "Headlines (anime/Japan news)". Speaking of, hopefully there won't be a tsunami after the recent earthquake. Yikes! Also, to be honest, I wouldn't mind being a proof reader.
Name: Chubaca

English Level (?/10):
6-7 Main Language is Spanish so I have my problems with English but overall I think auto-correct can help me.

Favorite anime and why?: Well This is a hard Questions and I know this was coming. There are just so many anime I have watch and all of them have been so amazing but there are a few that stand out. Such as Code Geass, Clannad, Cowboy Bebop and Mirai Nikki. Those are a few that I can name from the top of my head.

Section you wish to write for: Well all the sections look fine but I would like to propose to make a new section that it will be about currently airing anime or new anime that have come out. In this section we will give brief insight of what the anime is about and so letting them decide if they should watch it.
Name: Blaze
English Level (?/10): 9
Favourite anime and why?: Black Bullet. Intense, thrilling and fast paced, straight to the wish plot.
Section you wish to write for: proofreading. A+ in 9 out of 10 tests.
Thank you everyone for the interest. I have plans to soon expand and make AA Weekly bigger and better so will need more writers, so don't worry! I haven't just ignored all your applications. I'm just waiting for the moment to expand before I start going through and PM'ing people.

All your continued interest is greatly appreciated.

Some answers:

Cosplay Corner would be a section about all the new cosplay news. Weekly tips on helping people create costumes and just highlights of some fun costume designs at conventions.

Music news would be about the latest music news in Japan. So new album releases, news about singers and idols. Just like music news everywhere else, but focusing solely on Japan.

Any game you feel like - as long as it is related to Japan (or is anime-themed). For example there's lots of current news coming out about the new Persona releases, concept art and such or the new Super Smash Bros. That kind of stuff. Obviously all writers have creative reign though, so if you want to write about something else, you can. Be free with your journalism, just make sure its Japan related (as this news section is dedicated to anime/Japan).
Name: Satoru
English Level (?/10): 10/10
Favourite anime and why?: Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ for it's magnificent character development and plot.
Section you wish to write for: Interviewer 2
I beat off to this:
Name: Ryner
English Level (?/10): 8
Favourite anime and why?: Spice and Wolf due to the simple fact it is one of the few Animes which includes the wide known term known as "Merchanting" which I find quite interesting. I also like Wolf Girls and animes without too much fan service.
Section you wish to write for: I think I would like to go with "Proofreader" for now! Although I am inexperienced in this line of work.
Name: Endomous
English Level (?/10): 7
Favourite anime and why?: My favorite anime would have to be The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. I love Romance/Comedy/Tragedy so It was the perfect genre mix for my tastes.
Section you wish to write for: I'd love to write for Visual Novels. I enjoy them quite a bit.
