I need help finding an anime I watched years ago, I can remember certain things about it and basically the general story but I've been looking for days and struggle to find even a clue about it.

It had really graphic and well detailed powers/fight scenes, they were kind of like Naruto except they weren't really "abilities" and it was in old medieval times (not that far back though, most likely in between). I remember one fight (possibly in one of the movies or episodes, I'm not entirely sure.) In the fight there was a massive blue whirlwind that was practically thrown out by one of the characters weapons.

At the beginning the demon king who watches over their land or village (whatever you prefer) gets attacked by some other place and ends up dying, with his son expecting to surpass him because of his young age and promising skill.

I think there was an anime series, and a bunch of movies too. The fight scene I can remember is most likely part of one of the movies if I am corrected. It had an English dub that was actually pretty good.

If you say there were movies and a series I doubt it was Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. It only had one 12 episode season and the demon king in it is also a woman

No unfortunately is wasn't this. The demon king who dies during the war is bigger and he's a man, he wears like traditional big samurai armor when he gets invaded. He defends himself with regular slice/dash attacks but at some points he used huge flashy/colored moves that are really fast. They are really good quality and are kind of like the abilities in Naruto except you don't need hand signs, special training, or conditions. (If that helps)

The characters seem very alike (in a sense) but it seems too childish to be what I'm thinking of. You never know though, you could be right. I'll watch a few more episodes.

InuYasha looks almost exact but I can't find the movie scene/episode that would help my memory. All I can remember about it is that they were at some tower/cathedral or something where some dark lord had summoned like 10000 skeletons to fight the main character and his friend (possibly his father). My brother said it was InuYasha but I'm not sure. I'm going to keep looking.

I second this, it's most likely Yu Yu Hakusho or Inuyasha/Katanagatari.
