What is your favorite Hacker Anime?

I just finished watching all the episodes of Battle Programmer Shirase and want to find something new. Let's see what you like...

Hacker anime?

Idk if I have watched anything like that. On a side note .hack//Sign was pretty good. So was Ghost in the Shell.
I beat off to this:

Serial Experiments Lain is the only one that comes to mind.

Well I guess there is hacking in Steins;Gate?

SEL is a great watch though.

Never seen any hacking anime/movie/drama. Just not one of my types.

.hack was mediocre at best. Wouldn't exactly call it good.

If your into manga you can check out Bloody Monday, it's pretty good even though it's not very realistic. The new series Zankyou no Terror has hacking involved as well. There's also two manga called Fisheye placebo and Cloud. All of these are hacking related
Forgot to mention the movie Summer Wars. You should check it out if you're into hacking anime, since the plot of it deals mostly with hacking.
Steins;Gate Is probably the closest I've gotten to a "Hacker" type of anime. and I loved that one.

Thanks. I do enjoy mangas so these are right up my alley. I don't mind it not being realistic as I use them as a way to wind down after coding or whatever but I will check them out.

I had seen that before Shirase the battle programmer, but I thought it was way . I wish they made a second series of this but I guess the way they ended it,they will be making more.

This one seems interesting. I looked it up and it says mathematical equation solving, not sure how that is hacking really. But I am downloading it now. Looking forward to this one since it sounds like a drama type anime with an end of the world scenario. :)

The plot is centered around a program that hacks into a worldwide network and causes mass amounts of chaos. But the main character is very good at mathematical equations and logical thinking so that's probably why the synopsis said that.

I just finished watching it and it was a very touching story. Haha brought tears to my eyes a few times. I really enjoyed this, thanks. (Even though it was cliche at times)
Sword Art Online, the part where Kirito becomes a super hacker and hackers the terminal is awesome :D

In all seriousness, Mekaku City Actors was funny for its small bits. .hack// series is cool too.

I dunno though, I have yet to see an anime that really portrays the role of a hacker in an interesting way. I have seen a lot of anime with hackers and I liked them a lot for having that and other computer/game related stuff, but ;o

Actually, I kind of like how Accelerator thinks in A Certain Scientific Railgun / A Certain Magical Index. The way his vector control ability actually works based on an extremely calculating intellect and that he's actually doing vector math for billions of individual particles. That's close to a type of hacker I'd like to see in an anime. Come to think of it, Tatsuya Shiba from 'The Irregular at Magic High' fits this fairly closely as well. But neither of them actually hack much. They just have that type of calculating mind. Like Shiro (and Sora to a lesser degree).
