Fall Anime Chart is Here!

(Aug 6, 2014 06:40 PM)King~ Wrote:  So in 2006, the original Fate/Stay Night was released. It was decent IMO. Kinda meh.

Later in 2011-2012, Fate/Zero, a prequel to F/SN, was released. It's my favorite anime of all time. The original creator is Gen Urobuchi (who I know you love ;) ) and I HIGHLY recommend it. You don't need to watch the original F/SN series if you don't want to.

The reason a lot of people (including me) are so hyped about the Re-make of F/SN is it's by the Ufotable, the same studio that made F/Z.

I'm a bit scared this remake might turn out to be a flop. Fate/Zero was actually written by Urobuchi, who made it a lot more darker and, what can I say, intelligent, than the Fate series ever was. Fate/Stay Night is also a visual novel, and visual novel adaptations are generally a lot harder to pull off well, especially with all the expectations people have of this show. Yes, Fate/Zero fans have already hyped this to astronomical degrees.

But yeah, what I'm most afraid of is that Gen Urobuchi has absolutely nothing to do with this. The animation and sound are definitely bound to be fucking god tier, but the writing is going to be a lot simpler and more shounen-esque than all the Fate/Zero fans will be expecting..

That aside, these recent seasons have been pretty fucking amazing. This time we have Fate/Stay Night, Psycho Pass 2, Expelled From Paradise, and the second part of Mushishi Zoku Shou, all of which I'm sure are going to be pretty great. Then there are things like Log Horizon 2, which I personally liked the first season of, and Donten ni Warau, which I've heard is a really good shoujo manga, if you're into those kind of things.

I'm personally not too excited about Ronia the Robber's Daughter or World Trigger. I was really hyped for Ronia when it was first announced, being Ghibli's first actual TV anime and directed by Miyazaki's son to boot. After watching the PV for it, however, turns out it's likely going to be a full-CG anime, which are nothing but cancer. Here, take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsYWw0AzMAs
And World Trigger is just going to be a typical overhyped shounen, we have one of those every season. I'm just not interested.

With Gen Urobuchi being a key role to Fate/Zero's success, it does worry me that he isn't writing it. I'm still trying to be as optimistic about it as I can though, the fact that it even got a second chance means that they know they fucked up. Like you said, I'm not worried about the sound or animation, just story. The bright side is that both Heaven's Feel and the Unlimited Blade Works arcs are being adapted into anime. There's quite a few things in the Fate franchise being released.

Urobuchi is a writer, not a director. I am glad they decided to adapt two routes though, and I'm still staying optimistic so far. This is ufotable we're talking about, after all.
Yeah, I pumped about the F/Z/Night remake. I finished season two of F/Z a while back and ready for more Kiritsugu.

Oopsie, not sure why I wrote director. They're even making another movie adaptation...

Have you checked out the old F/SN yet or no?

No, I haven't. You said it was mediocre, so I thought ehh.. what's the point. Should I binge it before watching the remake?

The upside of watching it is you have something to compare it to when the remake comes out.
Ooo, these all look very interesting. I'll probably check out a couple of these when they're airing.

Meant to update this earlier, but a certain site had some downtime. Some new things that caught my eye for Fall was today's Psycho Pass S2 trailer! This one's gonna be hit or miss in my eyes though, as Gen Urobuchi is NOT writing season 2.

To be honest the only thing I'm looking forward to right now is Log Horizon. The others will depend on how good their pilot episode and plot will be,

I believe the anime for Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso will probably pass the manga. Manga is being
done I think bi-weekly and it's still not that far ahead in the story.

I totally recommend you give the new Fate/Stay Night a chance. It's a remake of an older F/SN adaptation, but a solid production company is making it this time around. I don't think I've ever been let down by Ufotable yet.
