Review
This movie was great in general. However, just like there are so many things that I liked in this movie, there are specific things that I didn't like as well.
I really liked the animation and the shape that the ninja turtles were in. Their size, skin tone, skin texture, even movement style and voice. Everything matched their personalities very well and I got the feeling that I'm not newly introduced to these characters, but that I had seen them and/or read about them before. It's very important to me that these characters are still the same characters we have known since childhood, so I think that went well.
I didn't like the progression of events, and how the focus was more on April O'Neil (the journalist) more than it was on the turtles. The storyline was written so that it begins with April (which is understandable) and then move on and introduce us to the turtles and how they overcome their enemy, and the time that was devoted to introduce us to April and her story was a lot more than the time devoted to introduce us to the turtles and the time that should have been used to show more details in the conflict between them and Shredder.
I feel like the story of the journalist who is sick of taking stories that aren't necessarily important to the world as much as serious stories are, and how this journalist wants to get a big story in order to get an upgrade in her job, I feel like that story is overused, and it would have worked great if they had focused more on the TMNT rather than focus on an overused typical story and lack detail in certain events late in the story.
To end this, I really recommend this movie to anyone who is interested in action movies that aren't too serious or macho. This movie is a great action movie but it focuses a lot on drama and comedy and uses them as entertainment factors as well. Which might just be the perfect combination for families or groups of friends.
