So I can't remember if I released my original sudoku solver or if it just ended up being erased on on of my HDDs, but I'm currently in the process of creating a pretty advanced one.
V2 (what I have already done), works on easy-medium difficulty, maybe even some hard ones. Kinda buggy, a bit slow.
However, it includes the most fundamental techniques for solving sudoku puzzles:
One thing that I completely overlooked is something that seems pretty obvious to me now that I think of it - the guess-and-check method, brute force guessing. I mean, when people get sudoku books with super crazy difficult puzzles, how are they supposed to solve them after they've attempted the above 3 techniques? Yeah, there are other very advanced solving techniques, but those are pretty intense just to try and understand what is going on, let alone do it on paper (and forget about coding it 😑).
Basically, when I release the solver it will include all of the above and recursive guessing. Technically speaking, it should be able to solve just about any possible sudoku given enough time using guessing alone (duh, but at 5472730538 possible solutions, it would be obscenely slow), but using the above plus guessing should be relatively quick.
I won't be posting V2, simply because V3 will actually work on more puzzles than V2 does currently.
Really, this is just a teaser of what I'm working on. I should be done it...fairly quick?...so prepare yourself (Click to View)
