I also think that they wanted to catch up to OS X xD

I'll upload an installation how-to tomorrow. I've got it filmed and edited. Just need to upload it.

Hopefully that'll help people.

Started the download, it's 3.8GBs, and it'll take around 3-4 hours to complete. So I'll create a VM with it tomorrow and start messing around.

My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.
Works nice! Installed Solidworks for school and Steam. Everythings works. Got some strange bugs, but nothing big.
My synaptic touchpad doesn't work in win8 apps; I get some strange memory access error when shutting down my computer.

Anyone got a way to hide the build number btw? It doesn't work like in Win8, there is no registry line for that.

lensert.com is the new screenshot utility, try it out now!
OSX & WINDOWS

For a preview release, it's not bad. I'm not impressed, but nor am I supposed to be. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves into the final version.
I just love how Microsoft just copies Apple's vision of a store.

Do you remember the history between xerox and steve jobs? Lol, in the technology world, very few ideas that you see today were original.
I have some more screenshot that fox will add later once he is on but here are screenshots of the start manu customized and with a new row, also the search feature which will search the web and your pc:

Extended Start Menu which is customizable:
Click me

Search Feature which will search PC and Web:

It's interesting that the x86 version is only 3gb as opposed to nearly 3.9gb for the x64.

Aura, which version did you download?
I'm kind of giggling that almost everyone is posting the same pictures of the start menu and search feature. I figured a bunch of advanced computer enthusiasts would be more concerned about discussing some of the more advanced features and functionality of what an OS would include.

Personally, the start menu was among the least of my worries about this OS.

We cant post screenshots about how fast the OS runs and it is a tech preview so alot of features dont work full or are buggy.

I don't think it's quite the same though. I don't think you will be finding a crap ton of employees there at all times and you probably won't be seeing a genius bar equivalent.

Yeah, I can understand that, but historically, most of the people here seem intent on bitching about the start menu, completely ignoring the fact that there's more to an OS than a start menu (haha)

Honestly, I have never understood the huge issue about the start menu. It's not like it made a damn bit of difference.
