That's pretty much the purpose of re-branding.
It does look nice, but I'd prefer a light coloured app. It's simply too dark in my opinion.
Other than that, it's pretty much just their logo thrown onto a background with text boxes.
Do some more to it, it's too empty.

I prefer non-rounded rectangles for the login form, and the form overall is extremely simple. Try to redesign the login form completely (including the skype logo) and use a blend of interesting colors rather then just grey and white.

What do you mean it's not vertically aligned? It is.
Yeah it's an extremely trippy illusion that it isn't aligned.
The lack of descenders in the text makes it feel top heavy.

Sure the other letters are vertically aligned, but if the capital letters and "unregular" letters aren't, it will look weird.
Either pick another font of fix it yourself. There is more air beneath than above, which makes the text look like it's top aligned.
I fixed the alignment as much as I possibly can, I like the font so I'm not going to switch it. I did redo the sign-in button so now it matches the other two rounded rectangles.
