Just read through it all, and it seems starting very early on has done you well, I will most likely sit on the virtual side until I have the confidence and knowledge to invest with my parents consent. Sounds interesting :)

Thank you so much for all your information... I am really thinking about getting into all this investing business now that my work season has slowed down... got alot more time on my hands What are your thoughts about investing in BTC? Iv'e invested £750 into BTC Might look into stocks now and use about £1000 (Sep 22, 2014 10:24 AM)qbug Wrote: Absolutely love your guide Enronitis Meh. I like the idea of BTC; it's a lovely thing and I've used it quite a number of times myself. AS for using it as an investment in itself, I'm not as comfortable as unlike in the stock world where you can guesstimate or workout how a stock will play out BTC is completely and utterly random for the most part. It will do what it wants to do. (Sep 22, 2014 06:08 PM)Dr. Gonzo Wrote: Good god, this is alot of information!!! And its still not done? So HQ, I'm pissing myself I've honestly been horribly slackin. I keep promising to finish this and never am able to get around too it. Will do asap; my apologies to everyone.
This is a really great thread, really well written, and easy to follow. I like the personal touches you added, too. Helps a lot!
I've been bumbling about with stock simulators for the past year, turned $88,000 into $156,000 on twitter alone. I also learned some hard truths about keeping all your eggs in one basket. They DO implode, and it can be tragic. One afternoon, twitter dropped -24% - fak. That's almost a quarter! Today, I started on plus500 demo - would highly recommend!

What do you mean? $15,000 is plenty to day-trade with, $8 fee both ways, make $100, sell, rinse, repeat. You don't need a shitton of money to day-trade, $15,000 is more than enough. I was/am mostly trading smaller stocks ranging anywhere from $1-$5 and selling off after making a minute amount of profit. Edit: Upon re-reading your question I realize you're probably referring to the formal rules for official "day-trading", being FINRA requires you to have $25,000 in any margin account to execute however many trades per day. I was trading with $15,000 but an account worth of $30,000 for this very reason through Merrill Lynch, as they do include your account balances from your Bank of America accounts. So does this mean I couldn't even daytrade with 5k? Or is that rule only for certain brokers? That's a global rule, but with $5,000 you probably aren't going to be executing more than those ~4 trades per day anywho. You could do what I did which is simply have a bank account with enough to push you over that $25,000 and only trade with (X) amount. If I was allowed 4 trades per day that would be fine, but I think it's 4 trades for 5 straight business days. https://www.tradeking.com/investing/day-trading-rules |
