I'm in some apartments and I need to get some wifi. I'm on iOS 8.1 and I have terminal. Anyone inform me a wifi cracking app or console line program that I can get into some wifi?

That is fully different scenario, you cant run vm/kali w/ iOS.
OP, if you have laptop, you can always download kali/backtrack and crack wlan in live-mode.

I would just buy a cheap netbook. Install Kali on a USB or run off a VM. There you go.

Glad there isn't an app that grabs the password hash and runs a dictionary attack like aircrack-ng in Kali. If there were, That WPA2 hole would be fixed or people would start making better passwords.

I can see NBC doing a show on it, talking with some dude bragging about his app that cracks wifi. Just like that guy that recorded Gingrich with his police scanner. Scanners that could listen to cell phone calls were immediately pulled from the shelves.

Hacking Wi-Fis is often done with brute-force tools like Reaver or Wifite.
However, these run best under Linux.

@poni: you mean, we can't run backtrack portable on iOS and we should run it through another machine and not through iOS?

There are some tools who declare they can crack Wi-Fi's from phones; but unless you've got 20 hour + the time and a lot of patience; not possible.

Even if you are using a net book.
If your neighbors have WEP you can def get it through aircrack on Linux. If they all have WPA, Then you might get it with a password list.

If you can transfer the hash to an old desktop and use the graphics card and use a mask in hashcat to brute force only checking for all lower case alphabetical characters 8 character password. It takes a real long time, even with a graphics card on a laptop.

Maybe things have changed since I tried this, I don't know.

Yeah I have done it before all I have is my iPhone right now. But I will try and get something for my laptop. Thanks for the reply mate.
