So I'll be the first to admit it. When I was a newbie to HackForums I bought about 4 ebooks and spent more than 80 dollars on them. And how much money did I make? $0. In fact, I never even re-opened the ebooks after the first read through. That was how bad they were. After being a member here for a while and definitely growing into a much more well informed person I've noticed that many other members seem to do the same thing when they first join.
It just seems to be the perfect marketing plan...
On one hand you have Hf members. [Please note I'm not talking about all HF members, just a large number of them] Typically a lot younger than the ebook writers..usually from 13 to 16 surfing the web trying to find out how they can get paid to sit on their computer all day instead of doing it for free like they have been. Probably has no expenses, so willing to invest some money. Or maybe using a parents paypal account. So when they see things like "vouches", "refund option", "make $400 a week" for the low price of $13.99 they'll go for it.
On the other hand we have a trusted HF member. Someone who's built up rep for years and years and has a nice shiny profile with a bunch of awards. Maybe you've got an internet money making gig going on for a little while now annd you've made a couple hundred. All you need now is to buy a $7 thread design, get some friends to vouch, and setup an autopay system! Oh, and write the ebook.
This is the dilemma I see. I apologize if you don't agree, I know this isn't true for all ebooks. In fact, I've sold two in the last year that I thought were of pretty high quality but I've decided not to keep selling them recently due to how ebooks and people selling them seem to be these days.
