What I believe makes a quality member are the important traits that everyone should strive to improve on which are: actions and having responsibility for all of the actions, Attitude and setting a welcoming environment for new members while respecting the community, and finally being helpful of course; helping new members around the forums while passing on knowledge/wisdom to carry further discussion. Thanks for this contest and good luck to everyone! -EgoManiac

Making a better community... Ummm. Well, it's like exactly how we survive in this world, in our neighbourhood. Help each other. What you know, share with others. Don't be mean. And most importantly, be respectful to the people that have been sharing their knowledge from ages. Even if it's a new member, don't insult him. I mean who the hell knows, he could be next generation Omniscient. If you don't be nice and helpful, people will ignore you. If each of us do the same thing, soon enough we will be no different than animals. Fighting, snatching food from each other trying to survive. But we don't just want to survive. Do we?
Very glad to see interest, even if it's just two members.
I'm not sure what a user really need to be a quality member, but in my honest opinion, two simply things is enough to be a High Quality use
  • Always share your knowledge : The biggest and best part to help this forum and his community is to always share what you know. For example, if you are good enough in C#, just go in the C# section and always try to answer to the beginner and to people who really need your help. If you are very good in something you can also write tutorial for these things, it's not a waste a time, it will obviously take so time but you'll help tons of people with that time, and you will improve your knowledge in education too. The big difference between High Quality user and normal user when they have both knowledge is something is also simple.
    • Normal user will juste ask payment for any help given, they will never just debug a source code for somebody.
    • High Quality user will help everybody and will never need or ask for payment, they will just be very gad to the user who give something.
  • Second big thing is the activity, if you have 2000 posts but they are all in Lounge or "chatting" section, you are not a HQ user in my mind, you are just somebody with lot of time to spend. Same thing for the reputation, if all your rep come from friends who rep you because you are funny, it's not very concordant with the quality of yourself.

And what will impact the community ? As I said in the first point, spend time to help other people by answering their question, or writing tutorial is the best thing to do. Also, if you have old software you made, or just old version of your software, letting the source code for free to beginner user is an awesome thing to them for helping them learning how to do something and how to handle this problem.

By the way, making this kind of contest is also a very good action to improve the quality of this forum :p

(Sorry for my English, I'm French ): )

Edit : Someone offer me the uppgrade to L33T meanwhile, but I would love to let my letter here, just to see if you agree with me (:
Nightfall is going great, all members seems cool to me.
Good luck to everyone, I hope there will be UB3R contest too!
Good luck everyone.
I honestly think the biggest impact a member can have on this (or any) community, is sharing what they know, knowledge is everything, money, belongings and other stuff are all 2nd place's.
If someone doesn't enjoy helping another someone, then no matter how much they'd like to be a "community-member" they would never succeed in passing of someone who has a ton of posts but doesn't really do anything.

I think my point is this, and it proves itself.
I am truly enjoying the replies, hopefully we get some more.
Still open. Show some love and support.

I just wanna love you guys 😭

Personally, I belive a quality member is a fair member who dosnt go around being a total douchebag but instead trys to better the forums through helping other members or posting helpful threads. Any member can easily help HF community by helping members in need of help by giving them helpful advice instead of abusing them :)
Why should I be chosen?

First of all, I have spent over 1 month and 1 week online since i joined in mid 2011. I am most active in Health Wise section(Which needs better moderation btw).
I also reached 1000 posts not too long time ago. I was originally going to upgrade in 2012, but my country got ip banned, which was lifted next year.

I am going to contribute to the community by keeping the Health Wise section off the garbage that keeps getting posted there every week, and maybe do giveaways in the future if i get a chance.

I think lots of things can make a quality member but really, all that one has to be is a decent person to begin with. Certain traits would play their part in all the different sections of the forum. Having a good imagination and sense of humour when posting in The Lounge would never be a bad thing. A member who is helpful and supportive would be perfect in the Personal Life section. Being trustworthy is key to a member who is regularly using the Marketplace. The Graphics section would always welcome some more creativity and skill. They're just some examples of what would impact the different sections positively. I think that anyone sharing their experiences and opinions can add to the forum in a good way. The little things like just following the rules and reporting those who don't matter too. I think that's 100, good luck to everyone!
