Next project: FTP hosted encrypted chat client

Had an idea while at work today.

Each person who is talking in the chat are all connected to an ftp server. Each client makes an encrypted file with there info. Each client knows the decryption key so each can read the files contents.

To send a message the cliennt would create a file in the encrypted folder.
The otherr clients would see this and decrypt and show the file.

As soon as you leave the room your file is deleted.

Everything is encrypted so even if someone gets into your server
1. either no one is on so everything is deleted
2. they see encrypted files be created and deleted. since they dont know the key they can't intercept the chat

So i need your guys opinion. is this worth creating? What's wrong with it?
How would you share the decryption key? a hacker could intercept it or just get their hands on the client application with it built in

decryption keys would be shared between the users. then typed into the program
So, kinda like an IRC chatroom but with encrypted logs + required username/password (account has to be pre-approved before it can join).

Is this where you're trying to get at?

If so, why not? If it turns out to be junk, then just trash the project if it turns out to be something, keep working on it. The way I see every project do, if it seems fun, I'll do it. If it looks boring or I won't learn anything, why bother.

Hey, 400 posts. :P
yawn. its cool if you wanna make something like this, and imma let you finish, but you dont need to make a f*cking announcement about some shit that's pretty much not gonna benefit anybody here.

keep it to yourself kid, then show people when you've done it.

This would be silly to delete them. Just have a private encryption key ^.^

Why not just delete them?

Anyway, I just wanted to say the I love the idea of this project! If you decide to make it open source, I will contribute without a doubt.

Why FTP and not just use a TCP/IP socket?
Probably coding some useless shit.
