Is TrueCrypt 7.1a safe to use on Win7 - and still remain safe in the future?

Hello,

I have seen a lot of arguments wheter TrueCrypt 7.1a is safe or not. Some says that they know security exploits on Windows, others says that it's not reliable. So what is the truth?

Is it still safe to use TrueCrypt 7.1a? If not, what are the vulneralibities and is it a real concern that someone can simply exploit the folders I'm encrypting with TrueCrypt?

(Because I would potentially use TrueCrypt to securely encrypt some sensitive files/folders.)

Thank you for any constructive answers. 🤝

i have not seen security paper updates since mid-November, but from what i'd read at that point, there were no exploitable issues. backdoor still not discovered. only issues were very minor..like pre-bundled libraries and old coding. the developer warning is still a mystery. hopefully someone else will have more info for you.

still susceptible to smm rootkits, but so is 99.999999% everything else.

This. 7.1a is safe to use. I've personally used it and on lots of my clients' machine with no problems whatsoever.
TrueCrypt 7.1a is still safe to use. The security audit being ran on it at the moment didn't reveal any vulnerabilities or exploits to it. If you need, I still have the original TrueCrypt 7.1a installer that I uploaded to mega.co.nz and I can give you the links if needed.

My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.
