The issue is not the receiver, it is the sender. To send coins on HF, either private keys would have to be stored on the site, an online wallet would have to be embedded, or omnicha.in accounts would have to be attached. If it was done with a user script, the omnicha.in account integration could be done client side which would be safer and less risky on the whole. Then only would a server to keep track of tips would be needed, so others could see when someone tips for a post, etc.

Could be a nice connect where you verify your first address and get 1000 OMC from the faucet. Just an idea.
Hmm, I don't particularly like the idea, but at least then you would have to make it upgraded members only (or at least beyond a certain registration date), because otherwise multi accounters could repeatedly make new accounts to get free OMC.

Or we could just use a URI scheme that the desktop wallet recognizes. So you click the link, the wallet opens, and you click send.

I like that idea, but that would still require some mechanism to keep track of tipped amounts.
Both a URI scheme and a user script reduce portability to desktop only unfortunately

Wait, we are trying to track tips? I guess that's an entirely different beast.
And actually it would work on windows and OSX, we could have a link for Omnicha.in's wallet, and you can do the same URI scheme on iOS, so I would assume you can do it on Android too.
The only platform it wouldn't work on is Linux, but that is just because we don't officially support a QT client for it anyways.

Yeah, it's really just omnicoin:<address>.
Maybe the omnicha.in wallet could also register a URI handler.
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs...colHandler
Never tried using it though, so I'm not sure if it works as expected.

For example:
window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("omnicoin", "https://omnicha.in/wallet/pay", "Omnicha.in URI handler");
That's pretty sweet, I'll definately look into it.

This would be pretty cool if implemented.

Yeah.. unfortunately it seems like you can only use a few different URI schemes from a whitelist. If you want something else it has to be like web+omnicoin: which wouldn't register with the QT wallet.
Alternatively you could have a link, and when you click it, it will check if you have a cookie (Use this cookie to determine whether someone uses your wallet and enabled your fake URI handling) redirect to omnicoin:<address> if they don't have the cookie or redirect to your own payment page if they do.

Exactly. Easy. He's over-thinking it.

Keeping track of tips isn't that important.
HF have more than 2.5million members. But I believe still a lot of HF members still do not know about Omnicoin. There is no price widget for OMC/USD, BTC/OMC in HF (Normally we can see it in any Bitcoin marketplace, exchange, web site). There is no marketing within HF eg. Banners. We have OMC sub forum and OMC marketplace but we cannot just wait members to come. The awareness of OMC within HF is very low. Not talking about outside of HF.
There are more to improve for OMC:
1. Mining - The team is doing a lot for mining but OMC is yet to list in www.coinwarz.com
2. Exchange - Not only a place to exchange OMC to buy 3PIC but a place to invest and speculate. An active exchange is a must for OMC if we want OMC to increase its value but seems like everyone are satisfy with small exchange www.allcrypt.com and nobody would like OMC listed in bigger exchange like www.cryptsy.com. Bigger exchange is where those investors come from. That why now OMC price move very slow compare to other coins.
3. Marketplace - Will become more active when OMC price go up.
Last but not least, the marketing for OMC is near to zero. I believe everyone want to make some money on OMC but so far nobody wrote an eBook or tutorial for it. If people do not see its value, the coin will die soon or later.
Here is my thread with zero reply

I never really thought about that until you mention it. There really isn't a way to know the price without going to allcrypt and seeing what the buy/sell orders are at. A price ticker on HF would be cool.

Yeah adding it would be nice...
http://omc-rates.com/ runs from allcrypt too.

Well you'll never know if you don't try ;)
What's the alternative? A wallet full of useless coins and knowing forever that you didn't do everything you could have done and all that time was wasted.
I'm sure HF has had rough times but look where it is now.

I think a lot more people would use the tipping system if people knew who tipped and how much. I think it is quite important honestly.

Add a wallet system, or work with an online wallet or just add a system that checks a address the user submits, and allow users to tip, omc or something to people or to buy products on hackforums easier via omc.
