Honestly?
Yeah. As long as you use the same word or sound every single time you intend to teach the command, the dog will learn that and respond accordingly

-What kind of dog/puppy do you have/are you getting: Purebred German Shepard
-Age and sex of dog/puppy: Just got done with her first heat about 2 weeks ago, still a pup
-Describe your question or concern in as much detail as you can: Would like to have her as one of those cliche dogs that will listen to me and only me. She's kind of like that, she's disobedient to others but will listen eventually. She'll listen to me on command unless something else really has her attention like her playmate or another animal.

So to clarify, you do not want her listening to others? You sure that's what you want... it's truthfully not advised. If however you mean to say that you want her making you the priority and listen on command, this can absolutely be done and will prove to be considerably easy with her being purebred german shepherd. And she is still a pup correct (under 3 years), double checking?

I guess I may have over-thought what I was wanting. And being 17 I was quick to answer and not think long term since I'd be gone with school etc and would have someone else looking after her (did not think about that part).

But now really thinking about it, I want her to be protective over me. She'll growl and hide behind me when friends come but I kind of want her to be aggressive and ready to jump if that's what I wish her to do. But not be anti-social since I still have friends come over.

Also, are there simple, easy commands for her to learn to get some bonding time? Like I said, with school/practice/work I don't have much time with her so quality>quantity wins this battle.

I was an presidential scholar and all-state olympic athlete coming out of high school so believe me i know all about having a lot of time being taken up by academics and sports and yes I absolutely still can provide you the right info to help.

The part about her "hiding behind you" will be an easy fix but will need to hear and see exactly how it happens to properly give you the exact info but should be very easily to correct as you want it to be.

For the bonding commands, yes absolutely, however please keep in mind ANY kind of training and interaction you do with her strengthens the bond between you two. Any kind of simple obedience to playing ball or any kind of agility builds constant trust and reinforces companionship between you two.
