how long do yu have coding?

i started learning c++ alittle under a year. the thing is that its self taught, so sometimes i go afew weeks without working on it. so after a while if i dont refresh my memory, i begin to forget. i would say im a little over beginner. im learning about structures right now.

how long do you guys hace coding? how advanced/good would you say you are at coding?
3 Years, still working on understand many things in the language. You should not try to rush yourself. I see no point in doing this. Most people want to jump into it and say I can do it then quit the next day because it's to hard. Thats just because you weren't ready to learn and most kids today don't want to learn, they just want to know and do. In programming thats not how it works, so I am glad I did take my time and still continue to do so.
I'd say about 5 years now, but ever since I started uni three years ago I haven't been coding as much as I did in high school, even though I'm a CS major. I just haven't had the time/strong urge to code my own stuff outside of assignments.

was everything self taught ? or did you have classes yo help teach you?

Mixed, I self taught some of the basics of C++ and the advanced part of it came with classes. I did two classes in High School, so I got to skip into and I am now in CS2.

I feel that a user should be able to make the decision if they need more help and go to a class. There is nothing wrong with going to a class, it helped me understand things much quicker and you had other students that could help you if you didn't understand.

I also actually recommend taking a class to help better yourself, after the classes I took, I can now self teach much better and I have been able to learn and use other languages. For example, I can program in: Python, C#, and Java. I feel like taking the class was a huge increase in the learning curve for me, but the decision is yours.

Hope I helped in someway, sorry about late respond.
Around 6 years and yea I self taught most of it.

Being self taught and not coding enough aren't related to one another. It sounds to me like you lack motivation or purpose, and aren't applying yourself enough to really excel.

I'm a self taught programmer, got nearly 8 years under my belt now, and I think I'm fairly decent. I spend an average of about 3-4 hours a day doing nothing but programming.
i kode 4 twenti yeers since i get my windows 95 pc and i luv playing on it ty 4 telling me about yu

i get into coding while im self teaching myself. but then i run into something that i have a hard time learning, so in a way that discourages me. so i take it slow, and after afew weeks, ive learned what i wanted to learn. then im back to practicing more often.
But i guess you could say i lack the motivation.
I've been programming for ten years now all together. I've been doing Java for seven years and C for 5 years. I have also been programming in C++, Python, HTML/CSS/JS, PHP, Ruby, COBOL etc. for quite some time. My company has it's own proprietary language too called Stage that I developed two years back.

I own a computer repair and software development business. My storefront is in Northeast Pennsylvania, USA.

That is really cool, how big is the company? Since i cannot see a small company developing their own language, also how long did it take for you guys to design/code it?
