They cant do that because legaly he could image the computer get the MD5 and Sha values and they show the court they do not match the image the goverment produced hence somthing has been minipulation meaning all eveidence needs to be thrown out from court. Also they wouldn't be held as an expert witness nor would a court take them seriously.

Hey buddy im gonna give some serious advice if want to stay safe...just sell the laptop and buy a new one...do the same for any electronics they return..dat way you have to be cautious an you will also get your laptop...anything the feds give cannot be trusted..i repeat cannot be trusted...fresh install wont work because they already know that you will do it..so the safest thing to do is sell it and buy a new one

I would recommend either selling or getting new Hard drives, that should be enough. Of course contact your lawyer before you take any actions to make sure you are protected no matter what.
