Diffrent kinds of CYber Security jobs?

what diffrent kind of jobs are there that have to do with cyber security or "hacking".

im gonna graduate high school and trying to figure out what to major in and im not 100% sure yet.

the ones ive been looking into is

- System Information Analyst
- Digital Forsenics

dont really know what a pen-tester would be called or the official names? and would greatly appriciate if you guys can help out with other names and a small description about what they are.

im google and youtubing as much info as i can, and want to ask HF comunitty for there opinion and help. thanks guys !
Pentesting is just pentesting. Ethical Hacker or IT Security auditor are other names for them. Big name companies like Blue Chip and Secure State are big on pentesters. You will probably need to start as a network administrator like I did and work your way into the field. Getting certifications like CISSP, OWASP, and CEH are starting points to prove that you know the concepts and theory behind the job.

Cyber Forensics is more like the defensive side, figuring out how the pentesters got into the network and how to patch it. It is very programming intensive just like exploit development. Pentesters and forensic analysts work hand-in-hand, but I personally get a thrill from the attacker's side of the job.

Major in a Bachelor's of Computer Science, definitely. It is the only degree that will be beneficial to you in this pursuit, as there is no degree for ethical hacking, yet.

I highly recommend the courses at Offensive Security. Expensive but worth it. I also have a tutorial link in my signature image with helpful tools and links to learning resources that you can use to get started.

If you have any questions, pm me or contact me on skype. My ID is in my thread. Good luck.
Malware Dev & Grey Hat available for contract work. DM if you need me.

OSCP, OSCE, OSEE, OSWE, OSWP, CEH, CISSP

Yeah, I've been around a while
Forensics.

Do it. Forensics.

so infoSec would be on the other side of pentesting right? instead of learning to hack, you learn and know how to defend

Yes sir it would be the opposite of pen testing. You're trying to defend from the Pen Testers or hackers.

You're kind of correct yes, you're defending information yes, and you do have to have knowledge for it yes, it's protecting information from black hats, etc.
