Apps show in recent apps one by one

For some reason, not all of the running apps are shown in the recent apps menu. They appear one by one, and what I mean by that is that I open the recent apps menu, I clear it and it's empty. Then, I need to open the recent apps menu again to see the next running app.

I have a G2 with Lollipop

If every app is doing this then there is a problem. If you clear all recent apps, then find a "package installer" or something like that in recent apps, I get that as well.
I am a pure white hat, Android enthusiast, tinkerer, listener of world news, a dreamer, and a friend.
It happens for every app, it just shows them one by one

Here's your solution to Google's shitty developers who can't properly integrate backgrounding and multi-tasking into one feature.

Eh I'm not really into that rooting stuff, but glad I'm not the only one having issues with it :P

Well, it's your call. There's likely a solution to what you're experiencing, but I can't force you to root.

I can walk you through it should you need any assistance.
