Currently, I'm in school for my avionics tech. license and then I'm getting my A&P license after. Right now, I'm (almost) trained to do Garmin G1000 installs which are I think those usually range from $50k-$60k per each one.
Anyways, I've always wanted to get my pilots license. I finally took a lesson to see if I liked it. I already knew all the instruments and how they worked, etc. so it was pretty easy to fly.
I had A LOT of fun flying. We went between 3,500 and 4,000 ft. and just did whatever we wanted. We flew across a lake and tried to count the boats we seen, lol. I was flying the whole time, the flight instructor didn't do anything except tell me what heading to take lol.
I did everything from taxiing to take off all the way to landing. He had to get us in the pattern to land because we were at a fly in, so there was quite a bit of traffic.
I just felt like sharing my experience. Flying isn't hard at all, anyone can do it really. There isn't much you can mess up on in the air.

This is the same type of plane I was in:

Flying is definitely really cool. I don't think I'll ever get a pilot's license though unless I can afford my very own Citation X or similar jet. Quite a nice bird for a cool $10 million. Of course, they can be had for much much less, but why buy a used plane if you can afford brand new just the way you want it?

Gratz man! I've taken 2 lessons as well but I'm currently saving up money for my PPL! :)
That's a piper right? Looks like it

If you want a customizable jet made just for you, go with Gulfstream.
Turbines are a whole different thing. I'll stick with recips for now :)

It's an AMD Alarus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Alarus
I've actually never seen one up until now. It's primairly used for flight training.
I can see how it does look like a Piper though. And good luck on getting your PPL :)
Amazing! I've always wanted to become a pilot. Maybe I'll be able to someday.

It's easier than what you probably think. Most pilots fly VFR (visual flight rules) which is basically flying by sight.
If you want to fly on bad days (ex. rainy, cloudy, foggy) you'd need an IFR (instrument flight rules) rating. That's harder to do because you're flying off of instruments but I think it's not that hard.
Go take a lesson and see how you like it :P

Yeah I've been in simulators practicing ILS landings and I got the hang of it eventually. It's been a long time since I did anything in regards to aviation. I've probably forgot a thing or 2.
Lessons seem to be quite expensive though.

Yeah, they are expensive. It's $99/hr where I'm at (cheapest) and some other place offer training at about $149/hr.
I think it'll be worth it at the end though :)

God that's expensive. I'll probably end up sticking with a job for a while and save up for a few. What kind of tests do you do before you actually take your first lessons?

Well, for me, I just paid the money and went in the plane and took off.
I think this is how it works (I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to getting the license.):
You take your flights and finish meeting the 40 hour requirements http://www.firstflight.com/private-pilot-requirements/
As you're doing the 40 hours you're learning information which will be on the tests. The tests are the final thing you do, I think.

Actually most of that sounds pretty easy to me. If only I had the money.
What about school grades and what not? I was always told they have to be good. Do they even check? I know you said it was fairly simple for you but didn't they check any of that?

This outlines it better than what I said: http://www.wikihow.com/Get-a-Private-Pil...ense-(USA)
As for school grades, I've never heard anything about that. All you need is to make your instructor be sure that you can fly good and then pass your tests.

Ah good for me. I didn't do the best at school.
Best of luck to you. I've always respected pilots and airmen alike.
Much love.
Fuck OP thats one hell of a accomplishment! I've always wanted to fly a plane.

Thanks :) Good luck to you too. Flying isn't as hard as it sounds/looks!

Thanks :P Just go to your nearest flight school and I'm sure they'll let you fly. It's worth the money the first time just to see if you like it or not. Plus it's an experience not everyone can get to have.
