i don't need someone to hold my hand hear but just some help in the right direction
when i try to google for info it is a sea of crap cant find anything useful
and looking at the sticky I had no clue where to start

this seemed like a good place to start considering i cant find any info on the network like i could in windows 7
Windows is NOT a WiFi hackerfrindly OS, unless you use a VM, it's going to be hard.

if i make the pic bigger you would see 3-4 vm running XD
i got kali-linux already if i need something else just let me know or give me a guide or something

i was close to doing it correctly before posting
they had auto channel changer on? took a while before i could do it in one shot

Yes, you will need something else. You will need a compatible Wireless adapter. I'd suggest buying the Alfa awus036h or awus036nha

but in the channel they where using kept on changing and that was the issue
Just be careful with VMs, you'll need a wifi card that supports promiscuous mode and packet injection, typically people buy USB supported devices, some people have issues with using USB devices in VMs, they don't always work like they should, it would be easier to make a bootable USB key and put Kali linux on that and then boot from that.
If you're getting channel hopping with the wifi and you're running something like the aircrack-ng suite of tools, it's because you've run something like airodump with no specified channel which means it rapidly switches channel to scan the entire band, either supply a specific channel or stop that running when using other tools which require a specific channel.

Hi, I dont need to hack the wifi as he's given me the password. My neigbour has let me use his wifi just wondering what I need to buy to boost the signal so it will reach my living room. I want to do it just from my end as he will probably think im cheaky asking him to plug something into his router. what device will I need
Buy a yaggi antenna online and you can pull signal from kilometers away under the right conditions.
Kali is your best bet for Wi-Fi hacking sir.

since you have permission you could use an AP that has a repeater mode or flash one with DDWRT. place in a window nearest to them.

It's not an either/or. Now you might find a WAP somewhere in your area that has vulnerable WPS, but I wouldn't count on it. It's better to capture a WPA2 handshake with using monitor mode and crack the hash with a powerful GPU.
