Best coding language for hacking? what do the hardcore hackers use?

Hey all,

What do the hardcore hackers code/program in?.

e.g:
web developer = html/php
script kiddie = vb.net
real hacker = ????????

thanks.
There's no such thing as a "hardcore hacker," stop watching those dumb hacking movies.

Most people who are actually skilled in hacking will know a lot, that can include C, PHP, Python, Bash, Perl, etc. It all depends on your taste. Different programming languages are better for different things.
Web Exploitation you will need to learn SQL, PHP, Javascript. HTML & CSS aren't really needed unless you want to deface them or something.

VB.NET is the worst language don't use it.

real hacker: Most real hackers won't discuss their methods unless payed, but I'm sure most hackers know a lot of Python, c++, C, and Perl.

It just really depends on what you want to do, hacking is endless.

But yeah as anthrax said, stop watching those movies like "Blackhat" they are complete bullshit and teach you nothing for a reason.

Just wondering how old are you?
Python, Java, C++, etc. I'm not too sure what you mean by a "hardcore hacker." Many start off just learning the basics.

You don't really NEED to learn Java, since java is limited to a number of things it can do.
Code
@echo off
color 0a

echo welcome to my hacking tool!
echo hack.bat created by [insert your name here]
echo enter ip
set /p ip=
cls
echo Hacking %ip%
ping %ip% -l 65500 -n 10000000 -w 0.00001

This.

The knowledge required would be based on the system they plan to attack.

This is why most hackers work in small groups and have specialities.

The ones that work alone are usually autistically good with machines in general (Kevin Mitnick simply understood phone systems for example and even had a crew in the nokia hack)

It's about UNDERSTANDING how a system works, not just exploiting a flaw.

If you know how something works, you should be able to modify the expected outcome.

SideNote:
There is nothing wrong with VB.NET or C#

I wouldn't use them for exploitation but they certainly help getting people interested in code. I started with VB 5 and It opened up my entire career. I am thankful for the "noob" languages as they help people understand how machines processes information.

I don't know why people don't just try and learn as many as they can. I think it's pretty simple to learn one quickly once you have learned a few basics. I think that starting with VB makes it easy to understand the basics of programming. Java, Python, C# and C++ are all good languages to know, as they are used in many, many applications, and are fairly similar to each other in certain ways. However, knowing how PHP, JavaScript and HTML work is useful for web-based penetration. Basically, the more languages you know, the more likely you will understand the code in front of you, and the more likely you will be able to transfer an idea to pseudocode to an actual working program.

Greetings! Just my 2 cents worth, but to be quite honest, learning computer code should be the last step in your hacking journey. Learning how a machine works, the 7 layer OSI model for example, learning what ports and protocols are and when they are used. Depending on your age/fundage I would suggest getting a few certifications from your local college/community college such as network+, security+, cwna, etc...I would then take a basic web programming class to learn how html/java script works. Finally, I would pick a basic language to learn, python is PERFECT, you can honestly learn it in a few hours from some great youtube videos. Best of luck!!!

Learn everything.

And you watch too many movies.

And are for sure under 15.
