Keep up the good work. I just reviewed the new News template/structure and yea this should start being a whole lot more smooth on the back end and for the production everyone here sees. 🤝
This edition could've been done by one person, this is pretty sad.
If you're going through changes then continue your normal style until the changes are ready to be applied. It's pathetic to write a fourth of an edition because you're switching some things up. Keep up the good work though, the audience is really growing. (Oct 16, 2015 08:13 PM)OnTheFly Wrote: This edition could've been done by one person, this is pretty sad. Your feedback is appreciated, but to a degree unwarranted. Despite it being a minimal edition, and our apologies to that degree, we do request users understand effort in the back end can be more so than what is actually presented. The changes are coming folks. 🤝 (Oct 16, 2015 08:13 PM)OnTheFly Wrote: This edition could've been done by one person, this is pretty sad. We could've just skipped all these editions. Instead, we decided to at least provide users with the core news directly related to HF. The changes that are occurring, which you clearly don't have access to nor understand what they are, makes it much more difficult for us to do a full edition now while the new system is being worked on than when the old system was intact. And no, this edition couldn't be done all by one person. It takes time to do most of these sections and if one person did them all, you'd be reading news from Monday, Tuesday, and maybe Wednesday too. Thank you for your opinion on this matter.

Clearly your team can't handle a decent workload if you're hardly pushing out editions. I wrote for the news team for over two years, often times writing multiple sections. During the month of the team we were developing an entire wiki while still putting out whole editions that racked up eight pages of comments. If these changes actually bring the attention back to the news then I will stand corrected. However for the time being I wish you luck running it into the ground. I think you're mistaken, I'm not picking an argument I'm criticizing the downfall of the news team. Nevertheless I'm interested to see these groundbreaking changes that have taken weeks to accomplish.

Quote:I think you're mistaken, I'm not picking an argument I'm criticizing the downfall of the news team.IMO the news team has improved in the recent months. Quote:Clearly your team can't handle a decent workload if you're hardly pushing out editions. Now I don't think that's fair. We write, produce, and get the news out every weekly without fail. Sure it can be a bit late, but it gets done. If the team was not able to handle a "decent workload", the HF News would not be out every week. Quote:I wrote for the news team for over two years, often times writing multiple sections. As do I and many other writers. This still hasn't changed. Quote:During the month of the team we were developing an entire wiki while still putting out whole editions that racked up eight pages of comments. If you're inferring that the team cannot produce the whole of the HF News weekly whilst these changes are commencing, you're wrong. We've been told not to. Besides the point, changing the style of the way you write takes time and practise; along with all the other changes taking place this is the best way to proceed. Quote:I'm criticizing the downfall of the news team. How can you actually criticize something without knowing exactly what it is your criticizing? You're criticizing the small recent editions, but you have no idea why they're so small. The public have no idea what changes are taking place. We've been pretty vague about it in fact, the changes are unknown to the public. Anyhow, explain the downfall in which you can see. I have seen nothing but an uplift in the team. Referring back to your other point, changing the way you write takes time and practise. An instant switch over in the way you write whilst trying to minimize errors is harder than it sounds. |
