DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
Remove the userbars from your group for an indefinite amount of time
Then open recruitment threads. Any group that wants serious members truly interested in its field of expertise should do that in my opinion, filters out the children craving for some acceptance
Boo
Just join my group and get over it.

I-it's not like I applied to dozens of groups to get flashy userbars, circlejerking and the impression I actually matter, you idiot!

And how should that help?

Excuse me if I'm being rude, but did you even read my post? Allow me to repeat it to you, since you can't be bothered to read less than three sentences
Take off userbars
Get members who are actually interested to apply to your group
Children who want a flashy userbar and to circlejerk won't apply since you have no userbar
Put the userbar back on later on
Have good, knowledgeable members who actively contribute to your group's life
??????????
PROFIT!

But these userbar whores aren't braindead.
They'll apply regardless knowing the UB is coming back inevitably.

It would discourage the majority of ub whores who happen to be the intellectual equals of edgy 13 years old who think they have it all figured it out. Plus, if you really want to make your group good, you're supposed to do more than just remove the UB (actively supervise your members' activity, not base your opinion of them off their sole recruitment post, create activities only members who are really interested in your group's purpose can do... possibilities are limitless)

I did but that won't help
Do you think a group accepts everyone?

I'm 14.
Are you calling me a brain-dead 'tard?
I don't think group owners wanna pay ~8k+ and not have a userbar. Actually that's the ONLY real reason they pretty much buy, otherwise they could make an unofficial group.
groups are only for people to gather around a topic to jerk off to and flash their userbars, you are clearly mistaken.
I don't middleman any deals on- or off-site. Please don't message me requesting my past services and certainly don't fall for anybody who claims to be me.
Last time I checked they have to pay Omni $200 or something like that for rebranding, which this counts as.

To be honest, I think it's pretty hard to distinguish modern-day userbar whores from actually legitimate members interested in your group. You can either sit there and speculate on how good this plan is like the apathetic group leader longing for a buck at the end of the day, or you can take action and distinguish yourself from the rest by taking these measures that prove you indeed care about your group. Would you prefer a hugbox of idiots to a group of intelligent, interested members? If the former didn't exist, this thread would have no need to have been posted in the first place. I'm suggesting a solution to a lot of group leaders being too lazy, apathetic or stupid to verify the authenticity of an applying member, which can be a difficult task at times

In desperate times come desperate means
Don't they care about their groups? Are they not responsible adults who, if able to afford a group, are also able to afford the steps that need to be taken for it to be improved?
I truly support this.
Maybe group owners could start an unofficial group, which would keep away the userbar whores. Open a recruitment thread for the unofficial group, and whoever is accepted and participates in the unofficial group can be added to the normal group.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize you knew everything about and who owns groups.
