[Step by Step Tutorial] How to setup Arch Linux on Oracle VirtualBox With Pics Part 1

How to setup Arch Linux on Oracle VirtualBox Part 1

NOTE: This guide will be extremely detailed with a lot of pics some people might find this unnecessary but i find that this way i answer less questions :)

Step 1 Downloads:
Downloads:
VirtualBox Download Page:
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Arch Linux Download Page:
https://www.archlinux.org/download/

Step 2 VirtualBox Setup:
Install VirtualBox to your desired location in your computers storage system. If you have an SSD and thats what you are running your operating system on i advise installing it on the SSD for best performance.

Step 3 Creating a New VirtualBox:
Start by clicking on New.

Then set your preferences such as the operating system and the version.
We want to set Type to 'Linux' and Version to 'Arch Linux (32 or 64 bit depending on the ISO you download + your system requirements)' you may chose your own name for the VirtualBox i just set my to Arch Linux.

Ram:
This is where it gets a bit more difficult, since we are not creating a dedicated OS and we are still hosting the OS that is hosting the virtualbox then we need to set the RAM according to how much your system needs without VirtualBox to operate, I am running 16GB of ram in my computer but i don't need that much when i am creating a virtualbox so i am just going to set 4GB of ram for the Arch Operating System (4096MB)

Hard Disk:
The first screen for hard disk will ask you if you want to create a virtual hard drive since we are setting this up for the first time you just press continue.

Hard Disk File Type:
This next screen will ask you if you want to create a VDI (Virtual Disk Image) just click continue because that can be left at it's default.

Storage On Physical Hard Disk:
This step is the same as the last two steps where i just hit continue but if you go to read it further it can be faster if you chose fixed size instead of dynamically allocated. I don't really see any difference but others might depending on your physical disk.

File Location And Size:
(IDK why but i don't have a 2TB SSD in my computer but apparently virtualbox thinks i do...)
For tutorial purposes i am going to leave my size at 8GB you can add more if you like.

You have now setup the virtual box, this concludes Part 1.
There may be up to 3 parts but i'm not sure until i do it :)

You probably should start with a point: why to choose Arch in first place?
